Narrator:Abu Hurayrah

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُوسَى الأَنْصَارِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْنٍ الْمَدَنِيُّ الْغِفَارِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏

"‏ الطَّاعِمُ الشَّاكِرُ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الصَّائِمِ الصَّابِرِ ‏"

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet(s.a.w) said:

"The one who eats and is grateful is like the status of the patient fasting person."

Reported by At-Tirmidhi (No. 2486) and Ibn Majah (No. 1764).

Al-Mubarakfuri — Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi

قَوْلُهُ : ( أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْنِ ) بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ معن ( الْمَدِينِيُّ الْغِفَارِيُّ ) أَبُو يُونُسَ الْمَدَنِيُّ ثِقَةٌ مِنْ الثَّامِنَةِ ( حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ) هُوَ معن بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ معن بْنِ نَضْلَةَ الْغِفَارِيُّ مَقْبُولٌ مِنْ السَّادِسَةِ. قَوْلُهُ : ( الطَّاعِمُ الشَّاكِرُ ) أَيْ لِلَّهِ تَعَالَى بِمَنْزِلَةِ الصَّائِمِ الصَّابِرِ لِأَنَّ الطُّعْمَ فِعْلٌ وَالصَّوْمَ كَفٌّ , فَالطَّاعِمُ بِطُعْمِهِ يَأْتِي رَبَّهُ بِالشُّكْرِ وَالصَّائِمُ بِكَفِّهِ عَنْ الطُّعْمِ يَأْتِيهِ بِالصَّبْرِ. قَالَ الْقَارِي : أَقَلُّ شُكْرِهِ أَنْ يُسَمِّيَ إِذَا أَكَلَ وَيَحْمَدَ إِذَا فَرَغَ وَأَقَلُّ صَبْرِهِ أَنْ يَحْبِسَ نَفْسَهُ عَنْ مُفْسِدَاتِ الصَّوْمِ. قَالَ الْمُظَهَّرُ : هَ…

Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying, “The one who eats and is grateful is like the one who fasts and shows endurance.” Tirmidhi transmitted it, and Ibn Majah and Darimi transmitted it on the authority of Sinan b. Sanna on his father’s authority.
