حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنِ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ، قَالَ دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ فَشَكَوْنَا إِلَيْهِ مَا نَلْقَى مِنَ الْحَجَّاجِ فَقَالَ ‏

"‏ مَا مِنْ عَامٍ إِلاَّ الَّذِي بَعْدَهُ شَرٌّ مِنْهُ حَتَّى تَلْقَوْا رَبَّكُمْ ‏"

Az-Zubair bin 'Adi said:

"We entered upon Anas bin Malik. We complained to him about what we were experiencing from Al-Hajjaj. So he said: 'There will not be a year, except that the one that is after it will be more evil than it, until you meet your Lord. I heard this from your Prophet(s.a.w)."'

قَوْلُهُ : ( عَنْ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ ) الْهَمْدَانِيِّ الْيَامِيِّ بِالتَّحْتَانِيَّةِ كُنْيَتُهُ أَبُو عَدِيٍّ الْكُوفِيُّ وَلِيَ قَضَاءَ الرِّيِّ ثِقَةٌ مِنْ الْخَامِسَةِ. وَقَالَ فِي الْفَتْحِ وَهُوَ مِنْ صِغَارِ التَّابِعِينَ وَلَيْسَ لَهُ فِي الْبُخَارِيِّ سِوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ يَعْنِي حَدِيثَ الْبَابِ. قَوْلُهُ : ( مِنْ الْحَجَّاجِ ) أَيْ اِبْنِ يُوسُفَ الثَّقَفِيِّ الْأَمِيرِ الْمَشْهُورِ , وَالْمُرَادُ شَكْوَاهُمْ مَا يَلْقَوْنَ مِنْ ظُلْمِهِ لَهُمْ وَتَعَدِّيهِ , قَدْ ذَكَرَ الزُّبَيْرُ فِي الْمُوَفَّقِيَّاتِ مِنْ طَرِيقِ مُجَالِدٍ عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ. قَالَ كَانَ عُمَرُ فَمَنْ بَعْدَهُ إِذَا أَخَذُوا الْعَاصِيَ أَقَامُوهُ لِلنَّاسِ وَنَزَعُوا عِمَامَتَهُ , فَلَمَّا كَانَ زِيَا…

We went to Anas bin Malik and complained about the wrong we were suffering at the hand of Al- Hajjaj. Anas bin Malik said, "Be patient till you meet your Lord, for no time will come upon you but the time following it will be worse than it. I heard that from the Prophet."

اصْبِرُوا، فَإِنَّهُ لاَ يَأْتِي عَلَيْكُمْ زَمَانٌ إِلاَّ الَّذِي بَعْدَهُ شَرٌّ مِنْهُ، حَتَّى تَلْقَوْا رَبَّكُمْ ‏"‏‏.‏ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ نَبِيِّكُمْ صلى الله عليه وسلم‏.‏

We went to Anas b. Malik and complained to him of what we were suffering from al-Hajjaj, and he replied, "Show endurance, for no time will come to you which will not be followed by one that is worse till you meet your Lord. I heard this from your Prophet." Bukhari transmitted it.
