حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، وَالْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، وَمَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ مَرْثَدٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ إِنِّي كُنْتُ

نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنِ الظُّرُوفِ وَإِنَّ ظَرْفًا لاَ يُحِلُّ شَيْئًا وَلاَ يُحَرِّمُهُ وَكُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ ‏"

Narrated Sulaiman bin Buraidah:

From his father, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "I had indeed forbidden you from using containers, but the container does not make anything lawful nor unlawful, rather every intoxicant is unlawful."

[Abu 'Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan Sahih.

قَوْلُهُ : ( وَالْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ) هُوَ الْخَلَّالُ الْحَلْوَانِيُّ ( حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ) اِسْمُهُ الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ النَّبِيلُ ( حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ) هُوَ الثَّوْرِيُّ. قَوْلُهُ : ( إِنِّي كُنْت نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْ الظُّرُوفِ ) أَيْ عَنْ الِانْتِبَاذِ فِي ظَرْفٍ مِنْ هَذِهِ الظُّرُوفِ الْمَذْكُورَةِ فِي الْبَابِ الْمُتَقَدِّمِ ( وَإِنَّ ظَرْفًا لَا يُحِلُّ ) بِضَمِّ أَوَّلِهِ أَيْ لَا يُبِيحُ ( وَلَا يُحَرِّمُهُ وَكُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ ) وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ لِمُسْلِمٍ : " نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْ النَّبِيذِ إِلَّا فِي سِقَاءٍ فَاشْرَبُوا فِي الْأَسْقِيَةِ كُلِّهَا وَلَا تَشْرَبُوا مُسْكِرًا ". قَالَ النَّوَوِيُّ : كَانَ الِانْتِبَاذُ فِي الْحَنْتَمِ وَالدُّبَّاءِ وَالنَّقِيرِ وَال…

I had forbidden you (from the preparation of Nabidh) and drinking it in certain vessels, (but now you may do so if you like) for it is not vessels or a vessel that makes a thing lawful or unlawful. It is every intoxicant that is unlawful.

عَنِ الظُّرُوفِ وَإِنَّ الظُّرُوفَ - أَوْ ظَرْفًا - لاَ يُحِلُّ شَيْئًا وَلاَ يُحَرِّمُهُ وَكُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ ‏"

Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forbade (the preparation) of Nabidh in green pitcher, in varnished jar, in hollow stump, and when Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) did not find anything to prepare Nabidh in that (i. e. waterskin), it was prepared for him in a big bowl made of stone.
