حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ

إِنَّمَا صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ لأَنَّهُ أَتَاهُ مَالٌ فَشَغَلَهُ عَنِ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ فَصَلاَّهُمَا بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَعُدْ لَهُمَا ‏.‏

Ibn Abbas narrated:

"The Prophet only performed the two rak'ah (units of prayer) after Asr because some wealth came to him which distracted him from the two rak'ah after Zuhr, so he prayed them after Asr, then he did not repeat that."

قَوْلُهُ : ( نا جَرِيرٌ ) هُوَ اِبْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ قُرْطٍ الضَّبِّيُّ الْكُوفِيُّ ثُمَّ الرَّازِيُّ ثِقَةٌ صَحِيحُ الْكِتَابِ قِيلَ كَانَ فِي آخِرِ عُمُرِهِ يَهِمُ مِنْ حِفْظِهِ ( عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ) الثَّقَفِيِّ الْكُوفِيِّ صَدُوقٌ اِخْتَلَطَ فِي آخِرِ عُمُرِهِ قَالَ اِبْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ يَخْتِمُ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ. قَوْلُهُ : ( إِنَّمَا صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ لِأَنَّهُ أَتَاهُ مَالٌ إِلَخْ ) وَفِي صَحِيحِ الْبُخَارِيِّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَقَالَ شَغَلَنِي نَاسٌ مِنْ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ عَنْ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ (…

We bear testimony to the fact that 'A'isha said: Never was there a day that he (the Holy Prophet) was with me and he did not observe two rak'ahs of prayer in my house, i. e. two rak'ahs after the Asr.
