حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُزَنِيِّ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ

تَوَضَّأَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَمَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَالْعِمَامَةِ ‏

Ibn Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah narrated from his father:

"The Prophet performed Wudu and wiped over the Khuff and 'Imamah." Abu Bakr (one of the narrators) said: "And indeed I heard it from Ibn Al Mughirah."

Al-Mubarakfuri — Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi

قَوْلُهُ : ( عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُزَنِيِّ ) الْبَصْرِيِّ ثِقَةٌ مِنْ أَوْسَاطِ التَّابِعِينَ ( عَنْ الْحَسَنِ ) هُوَ الْحَسَنُ الْبَصْرِيُّ ( عَنْ اِبْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ) اِسْمُ اِبْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ هَذَا حَمْزَةُ وَلِلْمُغِيرَةِ اِبْنَانِ حَمْزَةُ وَعُرْوَةُ , وَالْحَدِيثُ مَرْوِيٌّ عَنْهُمَا جَمِيعًا , لَكِنَّ رِوَايَةَ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُزَنِيِّ إِنَّمَا هِيَ عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ وَعَنْ اِبْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ غَيْرَ مُسَمًّى , وَلَا يَقُولُ بَكْرُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ , وَمَنْ قَالَ عُرْوَةُ عَنْهُ فَقَدْ وَهَمَ قَالَهُ النَّوَوِيُّ فِي شَرْحِ مُسْلِمٍ , وَحَمْزَةُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ هَذَا ثِقَةٌ مِنْ أَوْسَاطِ التَّابِعِينَ. قَوْلُهُ : ( وَمَسَحَ ع…

If the religion were based on opinion, it would be more important to wipe over the under parts of the leather socks than the upper, but I have seen Allah’s Messenger (rad) wiping over the upper parts of his leather socks. [Reported by Abu Da’ud with good Isnad (chain of narrators)].

I was with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) when he arrived at the dump of some people and passed urine while standing. I stepped aside, but he said: "Draw near." So, I drew near until I stood behind his heels, and he performed ablution and wiped over his leather socks.
