Sunan an-Nasa'i 4695

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "A man used to give loans to the people and used to say to his servant, 'If the debtor is poor, forgive him, so that Allah may forgive us.' So when he met Allah (after his death), Allah forgave him."

إِذَا أَتَيْتَ مُعْسِرًا فَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْهُ، لَعَلَّ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَتَجَاوَزَ عَنَّا‏.‏ قَالَ فَلَقِيَ اللَّهَ فَتَجَاوَزَ عَنْهُ ‏"

Narrated by Abu Hurayrah

There was a man who used to give loans to people. He would say to his servant: ‘When you come to an insolvent person, overlook his debt; perhaps Allah would overlook our sins.’
