أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ اللَّيْثِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ، كَانُوا يَبْتَاعُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنَ الرُّكْبَانِ

فَنَهَاهُمْ أَنْ يَبِيعُوا فِي مَكَانِهِمُ الَّذِي ابْتَاعُوا فِيهِ حَتَّى يَنْقُلُوهُ إِلَى سُوقِ الطَّعَامِ ‏.‏

It was narrated from Nafi that Ibn 'UMar told them, that:

they used to buy foold from the riders at the time of the Messenger of Allah and he forbade them to sell it in the place where they had bought it until they moved it to the food market.

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: "If anyone buys a grain he must not sell it till he weighs it." [Reported by Muslim].

وَعَنْهُ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-قَالَ: { مَنِ اِشْتَرَى طَعَاماً فَلَا يَبِعْهُ حَتَّى يَكْتَالَهُ } رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ 1‏ .‏ ‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه مسلم ( 1528 )‏.‏

Ibn ‘Umar said they used to buy grain in the upper part of the market and sell it in the same spot, but God’s Messenger forbade them to sell it there before removing it. Abu Dawud transmitted it. I have not found it in the two Sahihs.

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ: كَانُوا يَبْتَاعُونَ الطَّعَامَ فِي أَعلَى السُّوقِ فيبيعُونَه فِي مكانهِ فَنَهَاهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ بَيْعِهِ فِي مَكَانِهِ حَتَّى يَنْقِلُوهُ. رَوَاهُ…

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: If anyone buys grain, he should not sell it until he measures it. Abu Bakr added in his version: I asked Ibn 'Abbas: Why ? He replied: Do you not see that they sell (grain) for gold, but the grain is still with the seller.

مَنِ ابْتَاعَ طَعَامًا فَلاَ يَبِعْهُ حَتَّى يَكْتَالَهُ ‏"

رَأَيْتُ الَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ الطَّعَامَ مُجَازَفَةً يُضْرَبُونَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنْ يَبِيعُوهُ حَتَّى يُئْوُوهُ إِلَى رِحَالِهِمْ‏.‏

Authentic Sunan Abu Dawud 3503

Hakim asked (the Prophet): Messenger of Allah, a man comes to me and wants me to sell him something which is not in my possession. Should I buy it for him from the market? He replied: Do not sell what you do not possess.

لاَ تَبِعْ مَا لَيْسَ عِنْدَكَ ‏"
