Narrator:Amr ibn Taghlib

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ تَغْلِبَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏

"‏ إِنَّ مِنْ أَشْرَاطِ السَّاعَةِ أَنْ يَفْشُوَ الْمَالُ وَيَكْثُرَ وَتَفْشُوَ التِّجَارَةُ وَيَظْهَرَ الْعِلْمُ وَيَبِيعَ الرَّجُلُ الْبَيْعَ فَيَقُولَ لاَ حَتَّى أَسْتَأْمِرَ تَاجِرَ بَنِي فُلاَنٍ وَيُلْتَمَسَ فِي الْحَىِّ الْعَظِيمِ الْكَاتِبُ فَلاَ يُوجَدُ ‏"

It was narrated that 'Amr bin Taghilb said:

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'One of the portents of the Hour will be that wealth becomes widespread and abundant, and trade will become widespread, but knowledge will disappear. A man will try to sell something and will say: "No, not until I consult the merchant of banu so and so: and People will look throughout a vast area for a scribe and will not find one." (Sahih )

Al-Sindi — Hashiyat al-Sindi on Sunan al-Nasa'i

قَوْله ( إِنَّ مِنْ أَشْرَاط السَّاعَة ) أَيْ مِنْ عَلَامَات قُرْب الْقِيَامَة ( أَنْ يَفْشُو ) أَيْ يَظْهَر وَالْمُرَاد يَكْثُرُ فَمَا بَعْده عَطْف تَفْسِير لَهُ ( وَيَظْهَرُ الْجَهْل ) بِسَبَبِ اِهْتِمَام النَّاس بِأَمْرِ الدُّنْيَا هَكَذَا فِي بَعْض النُّسَخ وَفِي كَثِير مِنْ النُّسَخ الْعِلْم فَمَعْنَى يَظْهَر يَزُول وَيَرْتَفِع أَيْ يَذْهَب الْعِلْم عَنْ وَجْه الْأَرْض وَاَللَّه تَعَالَى أَعْلَم ( حَتَّى أَسْتَأْمِر تَاجِر بَنِي فُلَان ) أَيْ أُشَاوِرهُ بَيَان لِكَثْرَةِ الْجَهْل إِذْ لَا يَجُوز التَّعْلِيق فِي الْبَيْع لَكِنْ بَعْض الْعُلَمَاء جَوَّزُوا شَرْط الْخِيَار لِغَيْرِهِ أَوْ بَيَان لِكَثْرَةِ اِهْتِمَام النَّاس بِأَمْرِ الدُّنْيَا وَحِرْصهمْ عَلَى إِصْلَاحهَا ( الْكَاتِب ) ال…

Among the portents of the Hour is that knowledge will be taken away, ignorance will prevail, adultery will spread, drinking alcohol will be common, and men will decrease in number while women will increase so much that for fifty women there will only be one man to look after them

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: The time will become short, knowledge will be decreased, civil strife (fitan) will appear, niggardliness will be case into people's heart, and harj will be prevalent. He was asked: Messenger of Allah! what is it: He replied: Slaughter, slaughter.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Near the establishment of the Hour, there will be the days of Al-Harj, and the religious knowledge will be taken away (vanish i.e. by the death of Religious scholars) and general ignorance will spread." Abu Musa said, "Al-Harj, in the Ethiopian language, means killing."
