Sahih Muslim 970b

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forbade that the graves should be plastered or they be used as sitting places (for the people), or a building should be built over them.

أَنْ يُجَصَّصَ الْقَبْرُ وَأَنْ يُقْعَدَ عَلَيْهِ وَأَنْ يُبْنَى عَلَيْهِ ‏.‏

Narrated by Jābir ibn ‘Abdullāh

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade that the graves should be plastered (made into permanent structures), used as sitting places (for the people) or building over them. [Muslim].

عن جابر رضي الله عنه قال‏:‏ نهى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أن يجصص القبر، وأن يقعد عليه، وأن يبنى عليه‏.‏ ‏(‏‏(‏رواه مسلم‏)‏‏)‏

Narrated by Jābir ibn ‘Abdullāh

Jabir (RAA) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prohibited whitening a grave with plaster, to sit on it or to build over it (such as a dome).’ Related by Muslim.

وَلِمُسْلِمٍ عَنْهُ: { نَهَى رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ ‏- صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏-أَنْ يُجَصَّصَ الْقَبْرُ, وَأَنْ يُقْعَدَ عَلَيْهِ, وَأَنْ يُبْنَى عَلَيْهِ } 1‏ .‏ ‏1 ‏- صحيح.‏ رواه مسلم (970)‏.‏

Jabir said God’s messenger forbade that graves should be plastered with gypsum, that any erection should be built over them, and that people should sit on them. Muslim transmitted it.

وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُجَصَّصَ الْقَبْرُ وَأَنْ يُبْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَأَنْ يُقْعَدَ عَلَيْهِ. رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ

Narrated by Jābir ibn ‘Abdullāh

Jabir said that he was forbidden to plaster graves.

عَنْ تَقْصِيصِ الْقُبُورِ، ‏.‏

'Uthman said: "or anything added to it." Sulaiman b. Musa said: "or anything written on it." Musaddad did not mention in his version the words "or anything added to it." Abu Dawud said: The word "and that" (wa an) remained hidden to me.

It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed that the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade building structures over graves.

نَهَى أَنْ يُبْنَى عَلَى الْقَبْرِ ‏.‏

Narrated by Abu Sa‘īd al-Khudri

"The Messenger of Allah forbade building over graves, making them larger or plastering over them." (One of two narrators) Sulaiman bin Musa added: "Or writing on them."

‏ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنْ يُبْنَى عَلَى الْقَبْرِ، أَوْ يُزَادَ عَلَيْهِ، أَوْ يُجَصَّصَ ‏.‏ زَادَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى ‏:‏ أَوْ يُكْتَبَ عَلَيْهِ ‏.‏

"The Messenger of Allah prohibited plastering graves, writing on them, building over them, and treading on them."
