Narrator:Umm Hishām bint Hāritha ibn an-Nu‘mān

حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ خُبَيْبٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ، اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَعْنٍ عَنْ بِنْتٍ لِحَارِثَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ، قَالَتْ

مَا حَفِظْتُ ‏‏{‏ ق‏}‏ إِلاَّ مِنْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَخْطُبُ بِهَا كُلَّ جُمُعَةٍ ‏.‏ قَالَتْ وَكَانَ تَنُّورُنَا وَتَنُّورُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَاحِدًا ‏.‏

Umm Bisham hint Haritha b. Nu'man said:

Our oven and that of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was one for two years, or for one year or for a part of a year; and I learnt" Qaf. By the Glorious Qur'an" from no other source than the tongue of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) who used to recite it every Friday on the pulpit when he delivered the sermon to the people.

قَوْله : ( مَا حَفِظْت ق إِلَّا مِنْ فِي رَسُول اللَّه صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُب بِهَا كُلّ جُمْعَة ) قَالَ الْعُلَمَاء سَبَب اِخْتِيَار ( ق ) أَنَّهَا مُشْتَمِلَة عَلَى الْبَعْث وَالْمَوْت وَالْمَوَاعِظ الشَّدِيدَة وَالزَّوَاجِر الْأَكِيدَة وَفِيهِ : دَلِيل لِلْقِرَاءَةِ فِي الْخُطْبَة كَمَا سَبَقَ وَفِيهِ اِسْتِحْبَاب قِرَاءَة ( ق ) أَوْ بَعْضهَا فِي كُلّ خُطْبَة. قَوْله : ( حَارِثَة بْن النُّعْمَان ) هُوَ بِالْحَاءِ الْمُهْمَلَة. قَوْله : ( سَعِيد عَنْ خُبَيْب ) هُوَ بِضَمِّ الْخَاء الْمُعْجَمَة وَهُوَ خُبَيْب بْن عَبْد الرَّحْمَن بْن خُبَيْب بْن يَسَافٍ الْأَنْصَارِيّ سَبَقَ بَيَانه مَرَّات. قَوْلهَا : ( وَكَانَ تَنُّورنَا وَتَنُّور رَسُول اللَّه صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَس…

Authentic Sunan Abu Dawud 1102

I memorized Surah al-Qaf from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ); he used to recite it on every friday. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated in a similar way by Yahya b. Ayyub, Ibn Abu Ar-Rijal, from Yahya b. Sa'id, from 'Umrah from Umm Hisham hint Harithah b. al-Nu'man.
