Narrator:Jābir ibn Samurah

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، قَالَ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ

يَقْرَأُ فِي الْفَجْرِ بِـ ‏‏{‏ ق وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ‏}‏ وَكَانَ صَلاَتُهُ بَعْدُ تَخْفِيفًا ‏.‏

Jabir b. Samura reported:

The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) used to recite in the morning prayer" Qaf. By the Glorious Quran." and his prayer afterward shortened.

He (the Holy Prophet) shortened the prayer and he did not pray like these people then, and he informed me that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to recite" Qaf. By the (Glorious) Qur'an," and a passage of similar length.

يُخَفِّفُ الصَّلاَةَ وَلاَ يُصَلِّي صَلاَةَ هَؤُلاَءِ ‏.‏ قَالَ وَأَنْبَأَنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْفَجْرِ بـ ‏‏{‏ ق وَالْقُرْآنِ‏}‏ وَنَحْوِهَا ‏.‏

Authentic Mishkat al-Masabih 835

Jabir b. Samura said that the. Prophet used to recite at the dawn prayer, "Qaf. By the glorious Qur'an"* and a passage of similar length, and his prayer afterwards was shortened. *Al-Qur’an; 50. Muslim transmitted it.

وَعَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الْفَجْرِ ب (ق وَالْقُرْآن الْمجِيد) وَنَحْوِهَا وَكَانَتْ صَلَاتُهُ بَعْدُ تَخْفِيفًا. رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ

Authentic Sahih Muslim 457a

I said prayer and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led it and he recited" Qaf. (I.). By the Glorious Qur'an," till he recited" and the tall palm trees" (l. 10). I wanted to repeat it but I could not follow its significance.

وَصَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَرَأَ ‏‏{‏ ق وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ‏}‏ حَتَّى قَرَأَ ‏‏{‏ وَالنَّخْلَ بَاسِقَاتٍ‏}
