حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّاءُ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏

مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي تَوَادِّهِمْ وَتَرَاحُمِهِمْ وَتَعَاطُفِهِمْ مَثَلُ الْجَسَدِ إِذَا اشْتَكَى مِنْهُ عُضْوٌ تَدَاعَى لَهُ سَائِرُ الْجَسَدِ بِالسَّهَرِ وَالْحُمَّى ‏"

An-Nu‘mān ibn Bashīr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said:

"The believers, in their mutual love, compassion, and sympathy, are like a single body; if one of its organs suffers, the whole body will respond with sleeplessness and fever."

Reported by Muslim (No. 2586a, 1599c, 2586b) and Ahmad (No. 17648, 17654).

Explanation

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) clarified how Muslims should act together. They should love goodness for each other, show mercy, offer help, and support each other. Moreover, they should feel hurt by whatever harm afflicts them. In other words, they should act like a single body; whenever one of its organs gets sick, the whole body responds with sleeplessness and fever.

Lessons

  • The Muslims' rights should be venerated and cooperation and mutual kindness between them should be encouraged.
  • There should be mutual love and support between the believers.

Explanation in Arabic

بَيَّنَ النبيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أنّه يَجبُ أنْ تكونَ حالُ المسلمين بعضهم مع بعض من محبة الخير والرحمة والمساعدة والنصرة، والتأذِّي بما يحصل لهم من الضرر، كمثل الجسد الواحد، إذا مرض منه عضو، تفاعل معه الجسدُ كلُّه بالسهر والحُمّى.

  • ينبغي تعظيمُ حقوق المسلمين والحضُّ على تعاونهم وملاطفة بعضهم بعضًا.
  • ينبغي أن يكونَ بين أهلِ الإيمان المحبة والنصرة.

Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion and sympathy are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever". [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

وعن النعمان بن بشير رضي الله عنهما قال‏:‏ قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏ مثل المؤمنين في توادهم وتراحمهم وتعاطفهم، مثل الجسد إذا اشتكى منه عضو تداعى له سائر الجسد بالسهر والحمى” ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏ ‏.‏
