Narrator:Jābir ibn ‘Abdullāh

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَخْبَرَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ، عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ

كُنَّا نَتَمَتَّعُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِالْعُمْرَةِ فَنَذْبَحُ الْبَقَرَةَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ نَشْتَرِكُ فِيهَا ‏.‏

Jaibir b. 'Abdullah (Allah be pleased with them) reported:

We performed Hajj Tamattu' along with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and we slaughtered a cow on behalf of seven persons sharing in it.

قَوْله : ( عَنْ جَابِر بْن عَبْد اللَّه قَالَ كُنَّا نَتَمَتَّع مَعَ رَسُول اللَّه صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْعُمْرَةِ فَنَذْبَح الْبَقَرَة عَنْ سَبْعَة ) هَذَا فِيهِ دَلِيل لِلْمَذْهَبِ الصَّحِيح عِنْد الْأُصُولِيِّينَ أَنَّ لَفْظ ( كَانَ ) لَا يَقْتَضِي التَّكْرَار ; لِأَنَّ إِحْرَامهمْ بِالتَّمَتُّعِ بِالْعُمْرَةِ إِلَى الْحَجّ مَعَ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّمَا وُجِدَ مَرَّة وَاحِدَة , وَهِيَ حَجَّة الْوَدَاع. وَاَللَّه سُبْحَانه وَتَعَالَى أَعْلَم.…

Jabir reported the Prophet as saying, "A cow serves for seven, and a camel serves for seven.” Muslim and Abu Dawud transmitted it, the wording being the latter’s.

Ibn ‘Abbas said, "We were with God’s Messenger on a journey when the day of sacrifice came, and we shared with one another, seven for a cow and ten for a camel.” Tirmidhi, Nasa’i and Ibn Majah transmitted it, and Tirmidhi said this is a hasan gharib tradition.
