حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ كُنَّا نَتَمَتَّعُ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم

نَذْبَحُ الْبَقَرَةَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ وَالْجَزُورَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ نَشْتَرِكُ فِيهَا

Narrated Jabir bin ‘Abdullah :

We performed tamattu' during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), sacrificed a cow for seven and a camel for seven people. We shared them.

Al-Azimabadi — Awn al-Ma'bud

( نَذْبَح الْبَقَرَة إِلَخْ ) : قَالَ فِي النَّيْل : وَقَدْ اُخْتُلِفَ فِي الْبَدَنَة أَيْ الْإِبِل , فَقَالَتْ الشَّافِعِيَّة وَالْحَنَفِيَّة وَالْجُمْهُور إِنَّهَا تُجْزِئ عَنْ سَبْعَة , وَقَالَ إِسْحَاق بْن رَاهْوَيْهِ وَابْن خُزَيْمَةَ إِنَّهَا تُجْزِئ عَنْ عَشَرَة , وَهَذَا أَيْ إِجْزَاء الْإِبِل عَنْ عَشَرَة هُوَ الْحَقّ فِي الْأُضْحِيَّة لِحَدِيثِ اِبْن عَبَّاس " كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُول اللَّه صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَحَضَرَ الْأَضْحَى فَاشْتَرَكْنَا فِي الْبَقَرَة سَبْعَة وَفِي الْبَعِير عَشَرَة ". رَوَاهُ أَصْحَاب السُّنَن. وَعَدَم إِجْزَاء الْإِبِل عَنْ عَشَرَة هُوَ الْحَقّ فِي الْهَدْي , وَأَمَّا الْبَقَرَة فَتُجْزِئ عَنْ سَبْعَة فَقَطْ اِتِّفَاقًا فِي الْهَدْي وَالْأُضْحِيَّ…

Jabir reported the Prophet as saying, "A cow serves for seven, and a camel serves for seven.” Muslim and Abu Dawud transmitted it, the wording being the latter’s.

وَعَنْ جَابِرٌ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «الْبَقَرَةُ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ وَالْجَزُورُ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ» . رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ

Authentic Mishkat al-Masabih 1469

Ibn ‘Abbas said, "We were with God’s Messenger on a journey when the day of sacrifice came, and we shared with one another, seven for a cow and ten for a camel.” Tirmidhi, Nasa’i and Ibn Majah transmitted it, and Tirmidhi said this is a hasan gharib tradition.
