Not graded Mishkat al-Masabih 3396

Narrator:Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar

Ibn ‘Umar reported God’s Messenger as saying, “If anyone emancipates a slave who owns property he gets the slave’s property, unless the master stipulates otherwise.” Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah transmitted it.

Reported by Abu Dawud (No. 3962) and Ibn Majah (No. 2529). Cited in Mishkat al-Masabih (No. 3396).

“O Umair, I have set you free in a good way. I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: 'Any man who frees a slave and does not say anything about his (the slave's) wealth, it belongs to him (the slave).' So tell me, how much wealth do you have?” Another chain reports a similar hadith.
