Abul Hayyaj al-Asadi told that ‘Ali said to him, “I am sending you on the same mission as God’s messenger sent me. Do not leave an image without obliterating it, or a high grave without levelling it.” Muslim transmitted it.
Reported by Muslim (No. 969a), Abu Dawud (No. 3218), At-Tirmidhi (No. 1049) and Ahmad (No. 703, 1012, 1175). Cited in Mishkat al-Masabih (No. 1696).
'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: "Shall I not send you with the same instructions as the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) sent me with? Do not leave any statue without blotting it out or any raised grave without leveling it."
