حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ ‏

"‏ الْفِطْرَةُ خَمْسٌ - أَوْ خَمْسٌ مِنَ الْفِطْرَةِ - الْخِتَانُ وَالاِسْتِحْدَادُ وَتَقْلِيمُ الأَظْفَارِ وَنَتْفُ الإِبِطِ وَقَصُّ الشَّارِبِ ‏"

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'The deeds connected to the Fitrah are five (or five things are connected to the Fitrah): circumcision, shaving the pubic hairs, clipping the nails, plucking the armpit hairs and trimming the mustache.'"

Al-Sindi — Hashiyat al-Sindi on Sunan Ibn Majah

قَوْله ( الْفِطْرَةُ خَمْسٌ ) أَيْ خَمْس خِصَال أَوْ خِصَال خَمْس وَالْفِطْرَة بِكَسْرِ الْفَاء بِمَعْنَى الْخِلْقَة وَالْمُرَاد هَاهُنَا السُّنَّة الْقَدِيمَة الَّتِي اِخْتَارَهَا اللَّه تَعَالَى لِلْأَنْبِيَاءِ فَكَأَنَّهَا أَمْر جِبِلِّيّ فُطِرُوا عَلَيْهَا وَلَيْسَ الْمُرَاد الْحَصْر فَقَدْ جَاءَ عَشْرَة مِنْ الْفِطْرَة فَالْحَدِيث مِنْ أَوَّله أَنَّ مَفْهُوم الْعَدَد غَيْر مُعْتَبَر قَوْله ( وَالِاسْتِحْدَاد ) أَيْ اِسْتِعْمَال الْحَدِيدَة فِي الْعَانَة.…

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Five practices are characteristics of the Fitra: circumcision, shaving the pubic region, clipping the nails and cutting the moustaches short."

The Prophet (ﷺ) said "Five things are in accordance with Al Fitra (i.e. the tradition of prophets): to be circumcised, to shave the pelvic region, to pull out the hair of the armpits, to cut short the moustaches, and to clip the nails.'

الْفِطْرَةُ خَمْسٌ الْخِتَانُ، وَالاِسْتِحْدَادُ، وَنَتْفُ الإِبْطِ، وَقَصُّ الشَّارِبِ، وَتَقْلِيمُ الأَظْفَارِ ‏"
