حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ إِسْمَعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو هُوَ ابْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ صُهَيْبٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَامِرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ قَتَلَ عُصْفُورًا بِغَيْرِ حَقِّهِ سَأَلَهُ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ قِيلَ وَمَا حَقُّهُ قَالَ أَنْ تَذْبَحَهُ فَتَأْكُلَهُ

"There is no person who kills a small bird or anything larger, for no just reason, but Allah will ask him about it." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, what does 'just reason mean?" He said: "That you slaughters it and eat it, and o not cut off its head and throw it aside,"

"I heard Sharid say: 'I herd the Messenger of Allah say: Whoever kills a small bird for no reason, it will beseech Allah on the Day of Resurrection saying: O Lord, so and so killed me for no reason. And he did not kill me for any beneficial purpose."'

"‏ مَنْ قَتَلَ عُصْفُورًا عَبَثًا عَجَّ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ إِنَّ فُلاَنًا قَتَلَنِي عَبَثًا وَلَمْ يَقْتُلْنِي لِمَنْفَعَةٍ ‏"
