Sahih al-Bukhari 6813

I asked 'Abdullah b. Abu Aufi if Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) awarded (the punishment) of stoning (to death). He said: Yes. I said: After Sura al-Nur was revealed or before that? He said: I do not know.

هَلْ رَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ نَعَمْ ‏.‏ قَالَ قُلْتُ بَعْدَ مَا أُنْزِلَتْ سُورَةُ النُّورِ أَمْ قَبْلَهَا قَالَ لاَ أَدْرِي ‏.‏

Ibn 'Abbas (RAA) narrated, 'When Ma'iz came to the Prophet (ﷺ) (admitting that he had committed adultery), he said to him, "Perhaps you have just kissed, or touched or looked (at the woman)." Ma'iz said,'No, O Messenger of Allah.' Related by Al-Bukhari.

"لَعَلَّكَ قَبَّلْتَ, أَوْ غَمَزْتَ, أَوْ نَظَرْتَ?"

Jabir said that a man committed fornication with a woman and the Prophet gave command that he be given the appropriate beating, but on being told afterwards that the man was married he gave command that he should be stoned to death. Abu Dawud transmitted it.
