Narrator:Ā’ishah

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ قَالَتْ

كُنْتُ أَلْعَبُ بِالْبَنَاتِ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَكَانَ لِي صَوَاحِبُ يَلْعَبْنَ مَعِي، فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا دَخَلَ يَتَقَمَّعْنَ مِنْهُ، فَيُسَرِّبُهُنَّ إِلَىَّ فَيَلْعَبْنَ مَعِي‏.‏

Narrated `Aisha:

I used to play with the dolls in the presence of the Prophet, and my girl friends also used to play with me. When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) used to enter (my dwelling place) they used to hide themselves, but the Prophet would call them to join and play with me. (The playing with the dolls and similar images is forbidden, but it was allowed for `Aisha at that time, as she was a little girl, not yet reached the age of puberty.) Explanation in Arabic

قالت عائشة رضي الله عنها: كنت ألعب بالتماثيل المسماة بلعب البنات عند النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، وكان لي صاحبات يلعبن معي، فكان النبي عليه الصلاة والسلام إذا دخل الحجرة يدخلن في الستر كما تدخل الثمرة في قمعها بسبب دخوله، فيبعثهن ويرسلهن لي فيلعبن معي.

  • جواز اتخاذ اللعب من أجل لعب البنات بهن، وخص ذلك من عموم النهي عن اتخاذ الصور، وهو شامل للألعاب الحديثة.
  • تلطف النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم مع عائشة رضي الله عنها.

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani — Fath al-Bari

حَدِيث عَائِشَة " كُنْت أَلْعَب بِالْبَنَاتِ " وَمُحَمَّد شَيْخه فِيهِ هُوَ اِبْن سَلَّامٍ. قَوْله : ( وَكَانَ لِي صَوَاحِب يَلْعَبْنَ مَعِيَ ) أَيْ مِنْ أَقْرَانهَا. قَوْله : ( يَتَقَمَّعَن ) بِمُثَنَّاةِ وَتَشْدِيد الْمِيم الْمَفْتُوحَة وَفِي رِوَايَة الْكُشْمِيهَنِيّ بِنُونٍ سَاكِنَة وَكَسْر الْمِيم وَمَعْنَاهُ أَنَّهُنَّ يَتَغَيَّبْنَ مِنْهُ وَيَدْخُلْنَ مِنْ وَرَاء السِّتْر , وَأَصْله مِنْ قَمْع التَّمْرَة أَيْ يَدْخُلْنَ فِي السِّتْر كَمَا يُدْخِلْنَ التَّمْرَة فِي قِمْعهَا. قَوْله : ( فَيُسَرِّبهُنَّ إِلَيَّ ) بِسِينٍ مُهْمَلَة ثُمَّ مُوَحَّدَة أَيْ يُرْسِلهُنَّ. وَاسْتُدِلَّ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيث عَلَى جَوَاز اِتِّخَاذ صُوَر الْبَنَات وَاللَّعِب مِنْ أَجْل لَعِب الْبَنَات بِهِنَّ , وَخُص…

I was playing with dolls in the Prophet’s house and I had companions who played with me; but when God’s Messenger entered they would withdraw from him. He would then send them to me and they would play with me. (Bukhari and Muslim.)

I used to play with dolls. Sometimes the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) entered upon me when the girls were with me. When he came in, they went out, and when he went out, they came in.

فَرُبَّمَا دَخَلَ عَلَىَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَعِنْدِي الْجَوَارِي فَإِذَا دَخَلَ خَرَجْنَ وَإِذَا خَرَجَ دَخَلْنَ ‏.‏
