Narrator:Ā’ishah

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ آدَمَ، عَنْ عَبْدَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ

تَزَوَّجَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَنَا بِنْتُ سِتٍّ وَدَخَلَ عَلَىَّ وَأَنَا بِنْتُ تِسْعِ سِنِينَ وَكُنْتُ أَلْعَبُ بِالْبَنَاتِ ‏.‏

It was narrated that 'Aishah said:

"The Messenger of Allah married me when I was six, and consummated the marriage with me when I was nine, and I used to play with dolls."

Al-Sindi — Hashiyat al-Sindi on Sunan al-Nasa'i

( وَكُنْت أَلْعَب بِالْبَنَاتِ ) قَالَ فِي النِّهَايَة أَيْ التَّمَاثِيل الَّتِي يَلْعَب بِهَا الصَّبَايَا قَالَ الْقَاضِي عِيَاض فِيهِ جَوَاز اِتِّخَاذ اللَّعِب وَإِبَاحَة لَعِب الْجَوَارِي بِهَا وَقَدْ جَاءَ فِي الْحَدِيث أَنَّ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى ذَلِكَ فَلَمْ يُنْكِرهُ قَالُوا وَسَبَبُه تَدْرِيبُهنَّ بِتَرْبِيَةِ الْأَوْلَاد وَإِصْلَاح شَأْنهنَّ وَبُيُوتهنَّ قَالَ النَّوَوِيّ وَيَحْتَمِل أَنْ يَكُون مَخْصُوصًا مِنْ أَحَادِيث النَّهْي عَنْ اِتِّخَاذ الصُّوَر لِمَا ذُكِرَ مِنْ الْمَصْلَحَة وَيَحْتَمِل أَنْ يَكُون هَذَا مَنْهِيًّا عَنْهُ وَكَانَتْ قَضِيَّة عَائِشَة هَذِهِ وَلَعِبهَا فِي أَوَّل الْهِجْرَة قَبْل تَحْرِيم الصُّوَر قُلْت وَيَحْتَمِل أَنْ يَكُون ذَلِ…

'A'isha reported that she used to play with dolls in the presence of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and when her playmates came to her they left (the house) because they felt shy of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ), whereas Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sent them to her.

I used to play with dolls. Sometimes the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) entered upon me when the girls were with me. When he came in, they went out, and when he went out, they came in.
