حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏

إِذَا انْتَعَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِالْيَمِينِ وَإِذَا نَزَعَ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِالشِّمَالِ، لِتَكُنِ الْيُمْنَى أَوَّلَهُمَا تُنْعَلُ وَآخِرَهُمَا تُنْزَعُ ‏"

‘Ali ibn Abi Tālib (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any of you is putting on his shoes, let him start with the right foot; and when he is taking them off, let him start with the left foot. Let the right foot be the first when putting on the shoes and the last when taking them off."

Explanation

It is recommended to wear the right shoe first, and it is recommended to take the left shoe off first, because of what this implies of honoring the right foot

المستحب في لبس النعل البدء في اللبس أن يكون للرِّجل اليمنى، والمستحب في الخلع العكس وهو البدء باليسرى، لما في ذلك من تكريم الرجل اليمنى.

  • استحباب البدء بالرِّجل اليمنى عند لبس النعل وتأخير اليسرى.
  • استحباب البدء بخلع نعل الرِّجل اليسرى وتأخير خلع اليمنى.

قَوْله : ( إِذَا اِنْتَعَلَ ) أَيْ لَبِسَ النَّعْل. قَوْله : ( بِالْيَمِينِ ) فِي رِوَايَة الْكُشْمِيهَنِيِّ بِالْيُمْنَى. قَوْله : ( وَإِذَا اِنْتَزَعَ ) فِي رِوَايَة مُسْلِم " وَإِذَا خَلَعَ ". قَوْله : ( لِتَكُنْ الْيُمْنَى أَوَّلهمَا تُنْعَل وَآخِرهمَا تُنْزَع ) زَعَمَ اِبْن وَضَّاح فِيمَا حَكَاهُ اِبْن التِّين أَنَّ هَذَا الْقَدْر مُدْرَج وَأَنَّ الْمَرْفُوع اِنْتَهَى عِنْد قَوْله : " بِالشِّمَالِ " وَضُبِطَ قَوْله أَوَّلهمَا وَآخِرهمَا بِالنَّصْبِ عَلَى أَنَّهُ خَبَر كَانَ أَوْ عَلَى الْحَال وَالْخَبَر تُنْعَل وَتُنْزَع , وَضُبِطَا بِمُثَنَّاتَيْنِ فَوَقَانِيَتَيْنِ وَتَحْتَانِيَّتَيْنِ مُذَكَّرَيْنِ بِاعْتِبَارِ النَّعْل وَالْخَلْع , قَالَ اِبْن الْعَرَبِيّ : الْبُدَاءَة بِالْيَمِينِ…

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as saying: When one of you puts on sandals, he should put on his right one first, and when he takes them off, he should take off the left one first ; so that the right one should be the first to be put on and the last to be taken off.

إِذَا انْتَعَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِالْيَمِينِ وَإِذَا نَزَعَ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِالشِّمَالِ لِتَكُنِ الْيَمِينُ أَوَّلَهُمَا يَنْتَعِلُ وَآخِرَهُمَا يَنْزِعُ ‏"

That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When one of you dons sandals, then let him begin with the right. And when he removes them then let him begin with left, so that the right will be the first to put on and the last of them removed." [Abu 'Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan Sahih.
