حَدَّثَنَا حِبَّانُ بْنُ مُوسَى، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ، مَوْلَى ابْنِ أَزْهَرَ أَنَّهُ شَهِدَ الْعِيدَ يَوْمَ الأَضْحَى مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ فَصَلَّى قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ، ثُمَّ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَدْ نَهَاكُمْ عَنْ صِيَامِ هَذَيْنِ الْعِيدَيْنِ، أَمَّا أَحَدُهُمَا فَيَوْمُ فِطْرِكُمْ مِنْ صِيَامِكُمْ وَأَمَّا الآخَرُ فَيَوْمٌ تَأْكُلُونَ نُسُكَكُمْ‏.‏

Narrated Abu `Ubaid:

the freed slave of Ibn Azhar that he witnessed the Day of `Id-al-Adha with `Umar bin Al-Khattab. `Umar offered the `Id prayer before the sermon and then delivered the sermon before the people, saying, "O people! Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) has forbidden you to fast (on the first day of) each of these two 'Ida, for one of them is the Day of breaking your fast, and the other is the one, on which you eat the meat of your sacrifices."

قَوْله : ( عَبْد اللَّه ) هُوَ اِبْن الْمُبَارَك , وَيُونُس هُوَ اِبْن يَزِيد , وَأَبُو عُبَيْد مَوْلَى اِبْن أَزْهَر أَيْ عَبْد الرَّحْمَن بْن أَزْهَر بْن عَوْف اِبْن أَخِي عَبْد الرَّحْمَن بْن عَوْف , وَأَبُو عُبَيْد اِسْمه سَعْدُ بْن عُبَيْد. قَوْله : ( قَدْ نَهَاكُمْ عَنْ صِيَام هَذَيْنِ الْعِيدَيْنِ ) تَقَدَّمَتْ مَبَاحِثه فِي أَوَاخِر كِتَاب الصِّيَام وَاسْتُدِلَّ بِهِ عَلَى أَنَّ النَّهْي عَنْ الشَّيْء إِذَا اِتَّحَدَتْ جِهَته لَمْ يَجُزْ فِعْله كَصَوْمِ يَوْم الْعِيد فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَنْفَكّ عَنْ الصَّوْم فَلَا يَتَحَقَّق فِيهِ جِهَتَانِ فَلَا يَصِحّ , بِخِلَافِ مَا إِذَا تَعَدَّدَتْ الْجِهَة كَالصَّلَاةِ فِي الدَّار الْمَغْصُوبَة فَإِنَّ الصَّلَاة تَتَحَقَّق فِي غَيْر الْمَغْصُوب مَعَ…

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (RAA) narrated. ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) has prohibited fasting on two days; the day of Fitr (breaking the fast of Ramadan) and on the day of sacrifice ('Idul Adha).’ Agreed upon.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Habban from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade fasting on two days - the day of the Id al-Fitr and the day of the Id al-Adha.

وَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَهَى عَنْ صِيَامِ يَوْمَيْنِ يَوْمِ الْفِطْرِ وَيَوْمِ الأَضْحَى ‏.‏

Authentic Sunan Abu Dawud 2416

I attended the 'Id (prayer) along with 'Umar. He offered prayer before the sermon. He then said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prohibited fasting on these two days. As regards Id al-Adha, you eat the meat of your sacrificial animals. As for 'Id al-Fitr, you break (i.e. end) your fast.

صِيَامِ هَذَيْنِ الْيَوْمَيْنِ أَمَّا يَوْمُ الأَضْحَى فَتَأْكُلُونَ مِنْ لَحْمِ نُسُكِكُمْ وَأَمَّا يَوْمُ الْفِطْرِ فَفِطْرُكُمْ مِنْ صِيَامِكُمْ ‏.‏
