Narrator:Rāfi‘ ibn Khadīj

حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَبَايَةَ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ، عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ، قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏

كُلْ ـ يَعْنِي ـ مَا أَنْهَرَ الدَّمَ إِلاَّ السِّنَّ وَالظُّفُرَ ‏"

Narrated Rafi` bin Khadij:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Eat what is slaughtered (with any instrument) that makes blood flow out, except what is slaughtered with a tooth or a nail.'

Reported by Al-Bukhari (No. 5506).

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani — Fath al-Bari

حَدِيث رَافِع بْن خَدِيج قَدْ تَقَدَّمَتْ مَبَاحِثه , وَسُفْيَان هُوَ الثَّوْرِيّ قَوْله ( قَالَ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كُلْ يَعْنِي مَا أَنْهَرَ الدَّم إِلَّا السِّنّ وَالظُّفُر ) كَذَا عِنْد الْجَمِيع , وَلَمْ أَرَهُ عِنْد أَحْمَد مِمَّنْ رَوَاهُ عَنْ الثَّوْرِيّ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظ , و " كُلْ " فِعْل أَمْر بِالْأَكْلِ وَلَفْظ " يَعْنِي " تَفْسِير , كَأَنَّ الرَّاوِي قَالَ كَلَامًا هَذَا مَعْنَاهُ , وَقَدْ أَخْرَجَهُ الْبَيْهَقِيُّ مِنْ طَرِيق الْبَاغَنْدِيّ عَنْ قَبِيصَة شَيْخ الْبُخَارِيّ فِيهِ بِلَفْظِ " كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَة فَأَصَابَ النَّاس إِبِلًا وَغَنَمًا " قَالَ وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيث بِنَحْوِهِ وَزَادَ فِي آخِره "…

"You may eat an animal which is slaughtered by any means which causes the blood to gush out as long as Allah's Name is mentioned over it, except for the tooth and the claw (not allowed to be used). The tooth is a bone and the claw is the knife of the Abyssinians (Ethiopians)." Agreed upon.
