حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْنُ بْنُ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي قَالَ، خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِالْهَاجِرَةِ، فَأُتِيَ بِوَضُوءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ

فَصَلَّى بِنَا الظُّهْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ وَبَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ عَنَزَةٌ، وَالْمَرْأَةُ وَالْحِمَارُ يَمُرُّونَ مِنْ وَرَائِهَا‏.‏

Narrated `Aun bin Abi Juhaifa:

that he had heard his father saying, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to us at midday and water was brought for his ablution. He performed ablution and led us in Zuhr and `Asr prayers with a short stpear (or stick) planted in front of him (as a Sutra), while women and donkeys were passing beyond it."

Explanation in Arabic

اتِّخاذُ المُصَلِّي سُترةً له أثناءَ صَلاتِه مِن سُنَّةِ النبيِّ صلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّمَ، وقد أمَرَ المُصَلِّيَ المُنفَرِدَ أنْ يَأخُذَ لِنَفْسِه سُترةً؛ حتَّى لا يَمُرَّ أمامَه مَن يَقطَعُ عليه الصَّلاةَ، أمَّا في صَلاةِ الجَماعةِ فالإمامُ إذا اتَّخَذَ سُترةً لِنَفْسِه فهو سُترةٌ لِلمأْمومينَ، كما في هذا الحَديثِ، حيثُ يُخبِرُ أبو جُحَيْفةَ رَضيَ اللهُ عنه أنَّ النبيَّ صلَّى اللهُ عليه وسلَّمَ خرَجَ في سَفَرٍ وهُم معه، فصَلَّى بالبَطحاءِ، وهي مَوضِعٌ خارِجَ مَكَّةَ، وهو مَسِيلٌ واسِعٌ تَجتَمِعُ فيه دِقاقُ الحَصَى مِن مَسيلِ الماءِ، فصَلَّى بهمُ الظُّهرَ والعَصرَ رَكعتَيْنِ قَصْرًا، ووُضِعَ أمامَه عَنَزةٌ -وهي عَصًا أقصَرُ مِنَ الرُّمحِ-؛ لِتكونَ سُترةً له، ولذلك كان يَمُرُّ بيْن يَدَيْه المَرأةُ والحِمارُ مِن وَراءِ السُّترةِ فلا يَقطَعانِ صَلاتَه.وفي الحديثِ: مَشروعيَّةُ قصْرِ الصَّلاةِ في السَّفرِ.

قَوْله : ( وَالْمَرْأَة وَالْحِمَار يَمُرُّونَ مِنْ وَرَائِهَا ) كَذَا وَرَدَ بِصِيغَةِ الْجَمْعِ فَكَأَنَّهُ أَرَادَ الْجِنْسَ. وَيُؤَيِّدُهُ رِوَايَة " وَالنَّاس وَالدَّوَابّ يَمُرُّونَ " كَمَا تَقَدَّمَ , أَوْ فِيهِ حَذْفٌ تَقْدِيرُهُ وَغَيْرُهُمَا أَوْ الْمُرَاد الْحِمَار بِرَاكِبِهِ , وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ بِلَفْظ " يَمُرُّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ الْمَرْأَة وَالْحِمَار " فَالظَّاهِر أَنْ الَّذِي وَقَعَ هُنَا مِنْ تَصَرُّفِ الرُّوَاةِ , وَقَالَ اِبْن التِّينِ : الصَّوَابُ يَمُرَّانِ , إِذْ فِي يَمُرُّونَ إِطْلَاق صِيغَة الْجَمْعِ عَلَى الِاثْنَيْنِ. وَقَالَ اِبْن مَالِك : أَعَادَ ضَمِير الذُّكُور الْعُقَلَاء عَلَى مُؤَنَّثٍ وَمُذَكَّرٍ غَيْر عَاقِلٍ وَهُوَ مُشْكِل , وَالْوَجْه فِيهِ أَنَّهُ أَرَادَ…

The Prophet (ﷺ) led them in prayer at al-Batha', with a staff set up in front of him. (He prayed) two rak'ahs of the Zuhr prayer and two rak'ahs of the 'Asr prayer. The women and the donkeys would pass in front of the staff.

When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would go out (for prayer) on the day of 'Id, he ordered to bring a lance, it was then setup in front of him and he would pray in its direction, and the people (stood) behind him. He used to do so during journey ; hence the rulers would take it (lance with them).
