Narrator:Ā’ishah

حَدَّثَنِي حِبَّانُ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم

كَانَ إِذَا اشْتَكَى نَفَثَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ بِالْمُعَوِّذَاتِ وَمَسَحَ عَنْهُ بِيَدِهِ فَلَمَّا اشْتَكَى وَجَعَهُ الَّذِي تُوُفِّيَ فِيهِ طَفِقْتُ أَنْفِثُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ بِالْمُعَوِّذَاتِ، الَّتِي كَانَ يَنْفِثُ، وَأَمْسَحُ بِيَدِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنْهُ‏.‏

Narrated Aisha:

Whenever Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) became ill, he used to recite the Muawidhatan (i.e. the last two surahs of the Qur'an) and blow his breath over himself (after their recitation ) and rubbed his hands over his body. So when he was afflicted with his fatal illness. I started reciting the Muawidhatan and blowing my breath over him as he used to do and then I rubbed the hand of the Prophet (ﷺ) over his body.

Explanation in Arabic

أخبرت عائشة رضي الله عنها أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان إذا مرض قرأ بسورة: {قل أعوذ برب الفلق} و {قل أعوذ برب الناس} ثم نفخ الريح من فمه مع شيء من ريقه على يده ومسح على نفسه بيده، فلما مرض مرضه الذي توفي فيه، أخذت تقرأ بالمعوذات التي كان يقرأ بها النبي عليه الصلاة والسلام ثم تتفل بغير ريق أو مع ريق خفيف، وتمسح بيد النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم على نفسه لبركتها.

قَوْله : ( اِشْتَكَى ) أَيْ مَرِضَ , وَ ( نَفَثَ ) أَيْ تَفَلَ بِغَيْرِ رِيق أَوْ مَعَ رِيق خَفِيف. قَوْله : ( بِالْمُعَوِّذَاتِ ) أَيْ يَقْرَأهَا مَاسِحًا لِجَسَدِهِ عِنْد قِرَاءَتهَا , وَوَقَعَ فِي رِوَايَة مَالِك عَنْ اِبْن شِهَاب فِي فَضَائِل الْقُرْآن بِلَفْظِ " فَقَرَأَ عَلَى نَفْسه الْمُعَوِّذَات " وَسَيَأْتِي فِي الطِّبّ قَوْل مَعْمَر بَعْد هَذَا الْحَدِيث. قُلْت لِلزُّهْرِيِّ : كَيْفَ يَنْفُث ؟ قَالَ : يَنْفُث عَلَى يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ يَمْسَح بِهِمَا وَجْهه. وَسَيَأْتِي فِي الدَّعَوَات مِنْ طَرِيق عُقَيْل عَنْ الزُّهْرِيّ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَفْعَل ذَلِكَ إِذَا أَخَذَ مَضْجَعه. هَذِهِ رِوَايَة اللَّيْث عَنْ عُقَيْل , وَفِي رِوَايَة الْمُفَضَّل بْن فَضَالَة عَ…
