The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer the Fajr prayer while some women from among the believers, wrapped in their garments, would attend the prayer with him. Then they would return to their homes, and no one would recognize them because of the darkness

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ لَقَدْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم

يُصَلِّي الْفَجْرَ، فَيَشْهَدُ مَعَهُ نِسَاءٌ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ مُتَلَفِّعَاتٍ فِي مُرُوطِهِنَّ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعْنَ إِلَى بُيُوتِهِنَّ مَا يَعْرِفُهُنَّ أَحَدٌ‏.‏

‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer the Fajr prayer while some women from among the believers, wrapped in their garments, would attend the prayer with him. Then they would return to their homes, and no one would recognize them because of the darkness.

Explanation

‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) mentions that the female Companions used to cover themselves with their garments and attend the Fajr prayer with the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him). They would then return to their homes after the prayer at the time when the darkness of the night mixed with the faint light of the morning, and the one looking at them would not recognize them because of the remaining darkness.

تذكر عائشة رضي الله عنها أن نساء الصحابة كُنَّ يلتحفن بأكسيتهن ويشهدن صلاة الفجر مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ، ويرجعن بعد الصلاة إلى بيوتهن، وقد اختلط الضياء بالظلام، إلا أن الناظر إليهن لا يعرفهن، لوجود بقية الظلام المانعة من ذلك، وفي ذلك مبادرة بصلاة الفجر في أول الوقت.

  • جواز إتيان النساء إلى المساجد لشهود الصلاة مع الرجال، مع أمن الفتنة، ومع تحفظهن من إشهار أنفسهن بالزينة.
  • المرأة إذا خرجت تلففت بعباءتها؛ لأنه أستر لها.
  • مبادرة النساء بالرجوع إلى بيوتهن في الغلس.
  • استحباب المبادرة إلى صلاة الصبح في أول وقتها.

The believing women used to pray the morning prayer with the Messenger of Allah and then return wrapped in their mantles. No one could recognise them.

أَنَّ نِسَاءَ الْمُؤْمِنَاتِ، كُنَّ يُصَلِّينَ الصُّبْحَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ثُمَّ يَرْجِعْنَ مُتَلَفِّعَاتٍ بِمُرُوطِهِنَّ لاَ يَعْرِفُهُنَّ أَحَدٌ ‏.‏

The believing women observed the morning prayer with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wrapped in their mantles. They then went back to their houses and were unrecognisable, because of the Messenger of Allah's (ﷺ) praying in the darkness before dawn.

"The women used to pray Subh with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), wrapped in their wrappers, then they would return, and no one would recognize them because of the darkness."

"Women used to pray fajr with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and when he said the taslim they would leave, wrapped in their Mirts, unrecognizable because of the darkness."

كَانَ النِّسَاءُ يُصَلِّينَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم الْفَجْرَ فَكَانَ إِذَا سَلَّمَ انْصَرَفْنَ مُتَلَفِّعَاتٍ بِمُرُوطِهِنَّ فَلاَ يُعْرَفْنَ مِنَ الْغَلَسِ ‏.‏
