Chapter: It is forbidden to clean the private parts with the right hand

حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ـ هُوَ الدَّسْتَوَائِيُّ ـ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏

إِذَا شَرِبَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلاَ يَتَنَفَّسْ فِي الإِنَاءِ، وَإِذَا أَتَى الْخَلاَءَ فَلاَ يَمَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ، وَلاَ يَتَمَسَّحْ بِيَمِينِهِ ‏"

Narrated Abu Qatada:

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Whenever anyone of you drinks water, he should not breathe in the drinking utensil, and whenever anyone of you goes to a lavatory, he should neither touch his penis nor clean his private parts with his right hand."

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani — Fath al-Bari

قَوْله : ( حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذ بْن فَضَالَة ) بِفَتْحِ الْفَاء وَالضَّاد الْمُعْجَمَة , وَهُوَ بَصْرِيّ مِنْ قُدَمَاء شُيُوخ الْبُخَارِيّ. قَوْله : ( هُوَ الدَّسْتُوَائِيّ ) أَيْ : اِبْن أَبِي عَبْد اللَّه لَا اِبْن حَسَّان , وَهُمَا بَصْرِيَّانِ ثِقَتَانِ مَشْهُورَانِ مِنْ طَبَقَة وَاحِدَة. قَوْله : ( عَنْ أَبِيهِ ) أَيْ : أَبِي قَتَادَة الْحَارِث وَقِيلَ عَمْرو وَقِيلَ النُّعْمَان الْأَنْصَارِيّ , فَارِس رَسُول اللَّه صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَوَّل مَشَاهِده أُحُد وَمَاتَ سَنَة أَرْبَع وَخَمْسِينَ عَلَى الصَّحِيح فِيهِمَا. قَوْله : ( فَلَا يَتَنَفَّس ) بِالْجَزْمِ وَ " لَا " نَاهِيَة فِي الثَّلَاثَة , وَرُوِيَ بِالضَّمِّ فِيهَا عَلَى أَنَّ لَا نَافِيَة. قَوْله : ( فِي الْإِنَاء )…

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Whenever anyone of you makes water he should not hold his penis or clean his private parts with his right hand. (And while drinking) one should not breathe in the drinking utensil ."

إِذَا بَالَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلاَ يَأْخُذَنَّ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ، وَلاَ يَسْتَنْجِي بِيَمِينِهِ، وَلاَ يَتَنَفَّسْ فِي الإِنَاءِ ‏"

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "When you drink (water), do not breath in the vessel; and when you urinate, do not touch your penis with your right hand. And when you cleanse yourself after defecation, do not use your right hand."

When anyone amongst you enters the privy he should not touch his penis with his right hand.

دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْخَلاَءَ فَلاَ يَمَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ ‏"

The Messenger of Allah (way peace be upon him) forbade (us) to breathe into the venel, to touch the penis with the right hand and to wipe after relieving with right hand.

يَتَنَفَّسَ فِي الإِنَاءِ وَأَنْ يَمَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ وَأَنْ يَسْتَطِيبَ بِيَمِينِهِ ‏.‏

The Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: When any one of you urinates, he must not touch his penis with his right hand, and when he goes to relieve himself he must not wipe himself with his right hand (in the privy), and when he drinks, he must not drink in one breath.

إِذَا بَالَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلاَ يَمَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ وَإِذَا أَتَى الْخَلاَءَ فَلاَ يَتَمَسَّحْ بِيَمِينِهِ وَإِذَا شَرِبَ فَلاَ يَشْرَبْ نَفَسًا وَاحِدًا ‏"

From his father, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When one of you drinks, then do not breathe into the vessel." [Abu 'Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan Sahih.

"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'When any one of you enters Al-Khala' (the toilet), let him not touch his penis with his right hand.'"

It was narrated from Ibn Abi Qatadah, from his father, that the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade breathing into the vessel (when drinking), touching one's penis with one's right hand, and cleaning oneself with one's right hand.

أَنْ يَتَنَفَّسَ فِي الإِنَاءِ وَأَنْ يَمَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ وَأَنْ يَسْتَطِيبَ بِيَمِينِهِ ‏.‏

"My father told me that he heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'When anyone of you urinates, let him not touch his penis with his right hand nor clean himself with his right hand.'" Another chain with similar wording.
