Chapter: The superiority of the place between the pulpit and the grave (of the Prophet (pbuh))

Authentic hadith of Sahih al-Bukhari Muttafaq ‘alayh (Bukhari and Muslim) Sahih al-Bukhari 1196

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي خُبَيْبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏"‏

مَا بَيْنَ بَيْتِي وَمِنْبَرِي رَوْضَةٌ مِنْ رِيَاضِ الْجَنَّةِ، وَمِنْبَرِي عَلَى حَوْضِي ‏"

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Between my house and my pulpit there is a garden of the gardens of Paradise, and my pulpit is on my fountain tank (i.e. Al-Kauthar)."

Reported by Al-Bukhari (No. 1196, 1888, 6588, 7335), Muslim (No. 1391), At-Tirmidhi (No. 3915, 3916), Malik (No. 467) and Ahmad (No. 6925, 8364, 8530, 8789, 8847, 8970, 9266, 9436).

Explanation in Arabic

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: ما بين بيتي ومنبري روضة من رياض الجنة، وهذا يحتمل أنه كروضة من رياض الجنة في نزول الرحمة وحصول السعادة بما يحصل من ملازمة حلق الذكر لا سيما في عهده صلى الله عليه وسلم، أو المعنى أن العبادة فيها تؤدي إلى الجنة، أو هو على ظاهره وأن المراد أنه روضة حقيقة بأن ينتقل ذلك الموضع بعينه في الآخرة إلى الجنة،

ومنبري على حوضي أي ينقل يوم القيامة، فينصب على الحوض، والمراد منبره بعينه أو أن الحضور عنده لملازمة الأعمال الصالحة يورد صاحبه إلى الحوض ويقتضى شربه منه.

إشارة إلى الترغيب في سكنى المدينة.
فضل المكان بين قبره صلى الله عليه وسلم ومنبره وفضل العبادة فيه.

That which exists between my house and my pulpit is a garden from the gardens of Paradise, and my pulpit is upon my cistern.

that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "What is between my house and my Minbar is a garden from the gardens of Paradise." And with this chain, from the Prophet (ﷺ), that he said: "One Salat in this Masjid of mine is better than one thousand prayers in any other Masjid, except for Al-Masjid Al-Haram."
