حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي جَابِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ

يُصَلِّي عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ نَحْوَ الْمَشْرِقِ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ نَزَلَ فَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ‏.‏

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah:

The Prophet (ﷺ) used to pray (the Nawafil) on his Mount facing east and whenever he wanted to offer the compulsory prayer, he used to dismount and face the Qibla.

قَوْله : ( حَدَّثَنَا هِشَام ) هُوَ الدَّسْتُوَائِيّ , وَيَحْيَى هُوَ اِبْن أَبِي كَثِير. قَالَ الْمُهَلَّب : هَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيث تَخُصّ قَوْله تَعَالَى ( وَحَيْثُمَا كُنْتُمْ فَوَلُّوا وُجُوهكُمْ شَطْره ) وَتَبَيَّنَ أَنَّ قَوْله تَعَالَى ( فَأَيْنَمَا تُوَلُّوا فَثَمَّ وَجْه اللَّه ) فِي النَّافِلَة , وَقَدْ أَخَذَ بِمَضْمُونِ هَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيث فُقَهَاء الْأَمْصَار , إِلَّا أَنَّ أَحْمَد وَأَبَا ثَوْر كَانَا يَسْتَحِبَّانِ أَنْ يَسْتَقْبِل الْقِبْلَة بِالتَّكْبِيرِ حَال اِبْتِدَاء الصَّلَاة , وَالْحُجَّة لِذَلِكَ حَدِيث الْجَارُود بْن أَبِي سَبْرَة عَنْ أَنَس " أَنَّ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَتَطَوَّع فِي السَّيْر اِسْتَقْبَلَ بِنَاقَتِهِ الْقِ…

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Dinar from Abdullah ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to pray on his mount while travelling, whichever way it was facing. Abdullah ibn Dinar said, "Abdullah ibn Umar would also do that."
