Chapter: Regarding the site treated when cupping

حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَازِمٍ - حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم

احْتَجَمَ ثَلاَثًا فِي الأَخْدَعَيْنِ وَالْكَاهِلِ ‏.‏

Narrated Anas ibn Malik:

The Prophet (ﷺ) had himself cupped three times in the veins at the sides of the neck and on the shoulder. Ma'mar said: I got myself cupped, and I lost my memory so much so that I was instructed Surat al-Fatihah by others in my prayer. He had himself cupped at the top of his head.

Reported by Abu Dawud (No. 3860).

Al-Azimabadi — Awn al-Ma'bud

( فِي الْأَخْدَعَيْنِ ) : هُمَا عِرْقَانِ فِي جَانِبَيْ الْعُنُق كَذَا فِي النِّهَايَة. وَفِي النَّيْل. قَالَ أَهْل اللُّغَة الْأَخْدَعَانِ عِرْقَانِ فِي جَانِبَيْ الْعُنُق يُحْجَم مِنْهُ وَالْكَاهِل مَا بَيْن الْكَتِفَيْنِ وَهُوَ مُقَدَّم الظَّهْر. قَالَ اِبْن الْقَيِّم فِي زَادَ الْمَعَاد : الْحِجَامَة عَلَى الْأَخْدَعَيْنِ تَنْفَع مِنْ أَمْرَاض الرَّأْس وَأَجْزَائِهِ كَالْوَجْهِ وَالْأَسْنَان وَالْأُذُنَيْنِ وَالْعَيْنَيْنِ وَالْأَنْف إِذَا كَانَ حُدُوث ذَلِكَ مِنْ كَثْرَة الدَّم أَوْ فَسَاده أَوْ مِنْهُمَا جَمِيعًا. قَالَ وَالْحِجَامَة لِأَهْلِ الْحِجَاز وَالْبِلَاد الْحَارَّة لِأَنَّ دِمَاءَهُمْ رَقِيقَة وَهِيَ أَمْيَل إِلَى ظَاهِر أَبْدَانهمْ لِجَذْبِ الْحَرَارَة الْخَارِجَة إِلَى سَطْ…

It was narrated from Anas that the Prophet (ﷺ) was cupped in the two veins at theside of the neck and the base of the neck.
