حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ، مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّهُ نَهَى عَنْ خَلِيطِ الزَّبِيبِ، وَالتَّمْرِ، وَعَنْ خَلِيطِ الْبُسْرِ، وَالتَّمْرِ، وَعَنْ خَلِيطِ الزَّهْوِ، وَالرُّطَبِ، وَقَالَ، ‏"‏

انْتَبِذُوا كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ عَلَى حِدَةٍ ‏"

‘Abd Allah b. Abi Qatadah said that his father Abu Qatadah forbade mixing raisins and dried dates, mixing unripe dates and fresh dates, and mixing dates beginning to take on colour and fresh dates. He said:

Make nabidh (drink) from each separately.

He (the narrator Yahya) said: Abu Salamah bin 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to me this tradition on the authority of Abu Qatadah from the Prophet (ﷺ)

Al-Azimabadi — Awn al-Ma'bud

( وَعَنْ خَلِيط الزَّهْو وَالرُّطَب ) : الزَّهْو بِفَتْحِ الزَّاي وَضَمِّهَا لُغَتَانِ مَشْهُورَتَانِ قَالَ الْجَوْهَرِيّ : أَهْل الْحِجَاز يَضُمُّونَ , وَالزَّهْو هُوَ الْبُسْر الْمُلَوَّن الَّذِي بَدَا فِيهِ حُمْرَة أَوْ صُفْرَة وَطَابَ , كَذَا قَالَ النَّوَوِيّ ( اِنْتَبِذُوا كُلّ وَاحِدَة عَلَى حِدَة ) : بِكَسْرِ الْمُهْمَلَة وَفَتْح الدَّال بَعْدهَا هَاء تَأْنِيث أَيْ بِانْفِرَادِهَا. قَالَ الْقَاضِي : إِنَّمَا نَهَى عَنْ الْخَلْط , وَجَوَّزَ اِنْتِبَاذَ كُلّ وَاحِد وَحْده لِأَنَّهُ رُبَّمَا أَسْرَعَ التَّغَيُّر إِلَى أَحَد الْجِنْسَيْنِ فَيَفْسُد الْآخَر , وَرُبَّمَا لَمْ يَظْهَر فَيَتَنَاوَلهُ مُحَرَّمًا. وَقَالَ النَّوَوِيّ : سَبَب الْكَرَاهَة فِيهِ أَنَّ الْإِسْكَار يُسْرِعُ إِلَيْه…

Abu Qatada told that the Prophet forbade mixing dried dates and unripe dates, mixing raisins and dried dates, and mixing dates beginning to take on colour and fresh dates, and told them to make nabidh from each separately. Muslim transmitted it.

Ibn 'Abbas reported that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) forbade the mixing of dates and grapes together, and mixing of unripe dates and ripe dates together (for preparing Nabidh), and he wrote to the people of Jurash (in Yemen) forbidding them to prepare the mixture of dates and grapes.

أَنْ يُخْلَطَ التَّمْرُ وَالزَّبِيبُ جَمِيعًا وَأَنْ يُخْلَطَ الْبُسْرُ وَالتَّمْرُ جَمِيعًا وَكَتَبَ إِلَى أَهْلِ جُرَشَ يَنْهَاهُمْ عَنْ خَلِيطِ التَّمْرِ وَالزَّبِيبِ ‏
