When three people set out on a journey, they should appoint one of them as their leader

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرِ بْنِ بَرِّيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلاَنَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ "
إِذَا خَرَجَ ثَلاَثَةٌ فِي سَفَرٍ فَلْيُؤَمِّرُوا أَحَدَهُمْ "

Abu Sa‘īd and Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When three people set out on a journey, they should appoint one of them as their leader."
Reported by Abu Dawud (No. 2608 ).
Explanation
The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) commanded travelers to appoint one of them as their leader. It should be the best and most level-headed of them they appoint to manage their affairs, because if they do not appoint one of them as their leader, their affairs would become chaotic.
Explanation in Arabic يأمر الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم المسافرين أن يُؤَمِّروا عليهم واحدا منهم، يكون أفضلهم، وأجودهم رأياً؛ ليتولى تدبير شؤونهم؛ لأنهم إذا لم يُؤَمِّروا واحدًا صار أمرهم فوضى.
إمارة السفر تنقطع بانتهاء السفر. الحرص على رعاية مصالح المسافرين ودفع الضرر عنهم. وجوب طاعة الأمير فيما يتعلق بمصالح السفر. الحرص على جمع الكلمة ونبذ الخلاف.
