حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، - يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُمَرَ - عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم

أَخَذَ يَوْمَ الْعِيدِ فِي طَرِيقٍ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فِي طَرِيقٍ آخَرَ ‏.‏

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar:

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out by one road on the day of the 'Id (festival) and returned by another.

Reported by Abu Dawud (No. 1156).

Al-Azimabadi — Awn al-Ma'bud

( أَخَذَ يَوْم الْعِيد فِي طَرِيق ) إِلَخْ : وَالْحَدِيث يَدُلّ عَلَى اِسْتِحْبَاب الذَّهَاب إِلَى صَلَاة الْعِيد فِي طَرِيق وَالرُّجُوع فِي طَرِيق أُخْرَى لِلْإِمَامِ وَالْمَأْمُوم , وَبِهِ قَالَ أَكْثَر أَهْل الْعِلْم كَمَا فِي الْفَتْح , وَقَدْ اُخْتُلِفَ فِي الْحِكْمَة فِي مُخَالَفَته صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الطَّرِيق فِي الذَّهَاب وَالرُّجُوع يَوْم الْعِيد عَلَى أَقْوَال كَثِيرَة. قَالَ الْحَافِظ : اِجْتَمَعَ لِي مِنْهَا أَكْثَر مِنْ عِشْرِينَ قَوْلًا. قَالَ الْقَاضِي عَبْد الْوَهَّاب الْمَالِكِيّ : ذَكَرَ فِي ذَلِكَ فَوَائِد بَعْضهَا قَرِيب وَأَكْثَرهَا دَعَاوَى فَارِغَة. اِنْتَهَى. قَالَ الْمُنْذِرِيُّ : وَأَخْرَجَهُ اِبْن مَاجَهْ وَفِي إِسْنَاده عَبْد اللَّه بْن عُمَر بْن حَ…

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that when the Prophet (ﷺ) went out to ‘Eid (prayers), he would return via another route than the first one he took.

ـ كَانَ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى الْعِيدِ رَجَعَ فِي غَيْرِ الطَّرِيقِ الَّذِي أَخَذَ فِيهِ ‏.‏

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that he used to go out to the ‘Eid prayers via one route, and return via another, and he said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to do that.

يَخْرُجُ إِلَى الْعِيدِ فِي طَرِيقٍ وَيَرْجِعُ فِي أُخْرَى وَيَزْعُمُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ ‏.‏

“My father told me, from my grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) slaughtered his sacrifice at the side of an alley, on the road of Banu Zuraiq, with his own hand, using a blade.”
