Biography of Adil Al Kassimi
Adil Al Kassimi: a Moroccan munshid devoted to praise of the Prophet!
Modest by nature, gentle in temperament and pleasant company, he has a powerful vocal timbre and an appealing singing style. Proud of his national culture and his time-honored Islamic identity, he draws on the cultural diversity of his country and on various artistic currents, blending them into distinctive Islamic nasheeds. He favors simplicity and shuns pretension and artifice: this is the Moroccan munshid Adil Al Kassimi.
The munshid Adil Al Kassimi was born in 1975 in Casablanca, Morocco. He grew up in a conservative environment, in a neighborhood called Hay Mohammadi, where a number of famous writers, poets and musicians were raised, most notably the well-known band Nass El Ghiwane.
His conservative surroundings and religious family encouraged him from childhood to turn to nasheed singing and praise of the Prophet. As a young child, he regularly attended gatherings of dhikr and worship, and he loved the lighter interludes performed during the breaks in those gatherings; they left a deep mark on him, and he learned a great deal from them.
In 1997, Adil Al Kassimi decided to devote himself fully to his talent in order to refine and develop it, while using it to convey meaningful Islamic and moral messages centered on the importance of holding fast to Islam and the value of following the Sunnah of the Messenger ﷺ. He then joined a Moroccan nasheed ensemble dedicated to madih, the praise of the Prophet, and to its preservation.
Through his contact with that ensemble and with artists and munshids from Morocco and abroad, the young munshid succeeded in honing his talent and became one of the successful figures of the nasheed scene, thanks to his distinctive nasheeds and varied albums, including, to name but a few, “Al-Fiyachiya,” “Ar-Rahma Al-Muhdat” and “Ya Nur.”
