Mosques are presented here as the houses of Allah on earth, and keeping them alive as a mark of faith. The verses speak of the Sacred Mosque, towards which the qibla is turned and from which the Night Journey began, as well as the mosque of the People of the Cave, the mosque of discord where praying is forbidden, and the duty to adorn oneself when going to the mosque.

مَثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَوْلِيَآءَ كَمَثَلِ ٱلْعَنكَبُوتِ ٱتَّخَذَتْ بَيْتًا وَإِنَّ أَوْهَنَ ٱلْبُيُوتِ لَبَيْتُ ٱلْعَنكَبُوتِ لَوْ كَانُوا۟ يَعْلَمُونَ ٤١
The example of those who take allies other than Allāh is like that of the spider who takes [i.e., constructs] a home. And indeed, the weakest of homes is the home of the spider, if they only knew.
