Tafsir of verse 65
Al-Mukhtasar
When they reached the place at which the fish was lost, they found there one of My righteous servants (who was Khidr peace be upon him), to whom I had given mercy, and to whom I had taught knowledge that people were not aware of, which is what is contained in this story.
There they found one of Our slaves34 upon whom We bestowed Our mercy35 and We taught him from Our Own knowledge36.
Notes
[34] i.e., Al-Khidr.
[35] i.e., Prophethood or being a righteous servant of Allah.
[36] i.e., the knowledge that Allah gave him such as knowledge of some unseen events, of which others were unaware.
Then they found one of Our slaves, on whom We had bestowed mercy from Us, and whom We had taught knowledge from Us.
Then found they one of Our slaves, unto whom We had given mercy from Us, and had taught him knowledge from Our presence.
So they found one of Our servants, on whom We had bestowed Mercy from Ourselves and whom We had taught knowledge from Our own Presence.
Then they found one from among Our servants whom We had granted mercy from Us and whom We had taught knowledge from Ourselves.
Then they (both) found one of Our bondmen (Literally: bondman from among Our bondmen) to whom We had brought mercy from Our Providence, and had taught him knowledge from very close to Us.
