217.2° from north southwest
Distance to the Kaaba: 1,306 km along the shortest path (great circle).
Today the Sun is exactly in line with the qibla at 13:41: vertical shadows then point away from the Kaaba.
The Sun passes directly over Makkah on May 28, 2027 at 12:18 and on July 16, 2027 at 12:27 (local time): wherever it is daytime, shadows then point away from the qibla.
The year 2026 in Al-Qurnah
Time of the five prayers on every day of the year (method: Muslim World League).
- Fajr
- from 03:09 (June 8) to 05:25 (January 11)
- Dhuhr
- from 11:35 (October 29) to 12:06 (February 3)

Over the year 2026, Fajr moves by 2 h 16 min and Maghrib by 2 h 10 min in Al-Qurnah, clock changes included; the latest Isha falls at 20:30 on June 21.
Al-Qurnah does not change its clocks in 2026: prayer times drift from day to day without any jump.

What latitude changes in Al-Qurnah
At 31° latitude, the Sun sinks more than 18° below the horizon every night of the year: Fajr and Isha at 18° exist all year round in Al-Qurnah.
When the angle is not reached, the “Muslim World League” method uses the middle of the night: in 2026, the displayed Fajr comes from this rule on no day.
No national convention was found for Iraq: times follow the most widely used method, Muslim World League (Fajr at 18°, Isha at 17°).
