Girl Arabic origin Sajā
In the Quran“The stillness of the night”: what grows calm and spreads
The word as it is recited in the Quran: Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hussary, Ad-Duhaa 93:2.
The word comes from the opening of Surah al-Duha: “By the morning brightness, and by the night when it grows still (idha saja)!” (93:1-2).
Saja comes from the verb saja, “to be calm, to grow still, to spread in silence”: said of the night whose darkness covers everything in peace, and of a sea without waves. The name evokes serenity. It is fashionable in Iraq and the Gulf.
