The noun mayar is not in the Quran, but its verb occurs once, in the story of Yusuf: his brothers tell their father, to take Binyamin to Egypt, “we will bring provisions (namiru) for our family” (12:65).
Meaning of the name Mayar
Mayar is a recent girls’ name, very fashionable in Egypt, the Levant and the Gulf. It is linked to the root m-y-r: mira is the store of food one goes to fetch and brings back to one’s family, and the mayyar is the one who brings it. The name thus evokes provision and care for one’s own; other meanings attributed to it (“moonlight”) have no support.
And when they opened their baggage, they found their merchandise returned to them. They said, "O our father, what [more] could we desire? This is our merchandise returned to us. And we will obtain supplies [i.e., food] for our family and protect our brother and obtain an increase of a camel's load; that is an easy measurement."
