كِيَان
Girl or boy Arabic origin Kiyān
In Arabic, “being, existence”; several origins depending on the country
In Arabic, kiyan (often pronounced kayan) means “being, existence, entity”, from the root k-w-n of being (kawn, “the universe”). The recent name is given to girls in the Gulf and the Levant. In Persian, Kayan refers to the legendary dynasty of the Kayanid kings; in Turkish, Kayan is also a masculine name, explained by the verb kaymak, “to glide, to flow”. Its meaning thus depends on the language.
The name Kayan does not appear as such in the Quran, but its root (ك و ن) occurs 1,390 times. Examples:
إِنَّمَآ أَمْرُهُۥٓ إِذَآ أَرَادَ شَيْـًٔا أَن يَقُولَ لَهُۥ كُن فَيَكُونُ ٨٢
