حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قال حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عُتْبَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ عُمَيْسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم سَأَلَهَا ‏"‏ بِمَ تَسْتَمْشِينَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَتْ بِالشُّبْرُمِ ‏.‏ قَالَ ‏"‏ حَارٌّ جَارٌّ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَتْ ثُمَّ اسْتَمْشَيْتُ بِالسَّنَا ‏.‏ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏

"‏ لَوْ أَنَّ شَيْئًا كَانَ فِيهِ شِفَاءٌ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ لَكَانَ فِي السَّنَا ‏"

Asma' bint 'Umais narrated that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) asked her what they used as a laxative. She said:

"Shubrum" He said: "It is hot and too strong." She said:"Then I used Senna as a laxative." So the Prophet (S.A.W) said: "If there was anything that would have a cure for death in it, then it would have been Senna."

قَوْلُهُ : ( حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرِ ) بْنِ عُثْمَانَ الْبُرْسَانِيُّ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ الْبَصْرِيُّ , صَدُوقٌ يُخْطِئُ مِنْ التَّاسِعَةِ ( حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ) بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ , صَدُوقٌ رُمِيَ بِالْقَدَرِ وَرُبَّمَا وَهَمَ مِنْ السَّادِسَةِ ( حَدَّثَنِي عُتْبَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ) أَوْ اِبْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ , وَيُقَالُ اِسْمُهُ زُرْعَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ , مَجْهُولٌ مِنْ السَّادِسَةِ. قَوْلُهُ : ( بِمَا تَسْتَمْشِينَ ) أَيْ بِأَيِّ دَوَاءٍ تَسْتَطْلِقِينَ بَطْنَك حَتَّى يَمْشِيَ وَلَا يَصِيرُ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الْوَاقِفِ فَيُؤْذِي بِاحْتِبَاسِ النَّجْوِ , وَلِهَذَا سُمِّيَ الدَّوَاءُ الْمُسَهِّلُ مَشِيًّا ع…

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: ‘What do you use as a laxative?’ I said: ‘The Shubrum (spurge – Euphorb).’ He said: (It is) hot and powerful.’ Then I used senna as a laxative and he said: ‘If anything were to cure death, it would be senna. Senna is a cure for death.’”
