حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم

صَنَعَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَتَخَتَّمَ بِهِ فِي يَمِينِهِ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ إِنِّي كُنْتُ اتَّخَذْتُ هَذَا الْخَاتَمَ فِي يَمِينِي ‏"‏ ‏.‏ ثُمَّ نَبَذَهُ وَنَبَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ ‏.‏

Narrated Ibn 'Umar:

"The Prophet (ﷺ) had a ring of gold made for him which he wore on his right (hand). Then he sat on the Minbar and said: 'I did indeed have this ring on my right hand' then he discarded it and the people discarded their rings."

He said: There are narrations on this topic from 'Ali, Jabir, 'Abdullah bin Ja'far, Ibn 'Abbas, 'Aishah, and Anas.

[Abu 'Eisa said:] The Hadith of Ibn 'Umar is Hasan Sahih Hadith. This Hadith has been reported similarly from 'Nafi, from Ibn 'Umar, through routes other than this, and it was not mentioned in it that the ring was on his right hand.

قَوْلُهُ : ( حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ ) بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ الْكِنْدِيُّ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ النَّحَّاسُ الْكُوفِيُّ صَدُوقٌ مِنْ الْعَاشِرَةِ. قَوْلُهُ : ( صَنَعَ خَاتَمًا ) أَيْ أَمَرَ بِصُنْعِهِ فَصَنَعَ لَهُ ( مِنْ ذَهَبٍ ) أَيْ اِبْتِدَاءً قَبْلَ تَحْرِيمِ الذَّهَبِ عَلَى الرِّجَالِ ( ثُمَّ نَبَذَهُ إِلَخْ ) وَهَذَا يَحْتَمِلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ كَرِهَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِ الْمُشَارَكَةِ أَوْ لِمَا رَأَى مِنْ زَهْوِهِمْ بِلُبْسِهِ. وَيَحْتَمِلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ لِكَوْنِهِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ وَصَادَفَ وَقْتَ تَحْرِيمِ لُبْسِ الذَّهَبِ عَلَى الرِّجَالِ , وَيُؤَيِّدُ هَذَا رِوَايَةُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ اِبْنِ عُمَرَ عِنْدَ الْبُخَارِيِّ بِلَفْظِ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص…

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wanted to write to some persian rulers. He was told that they would not read a letter without a seal in the form of a silver ring on which he engraved "Muhammad the Messenger of Allah."

إِنَّهُمْ لاَ يَقْرَءُونَ كِتَابًا إِلاَّ بِخَاتَمٍ فَاتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَنَقَشَ فِيهِ ‏"‏ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏"

Ziyad b. Sa'd, Shu'aib and Ibn Musafir transmitted it from al-Zuhri. 'Ali said in their versions: "of silver".

رَأَى فِي يَدِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم خَاتَمًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ يَوْمًا وَاحِدًا فَصَنَعَ النَّاسُ فَلَبِسُوا وَطَرَحَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَطَرَحَ النَّاسُ ‏.‏

Authentic Muttafaq ‘alayh (Bukhari and Muslim) Sahih al-Bukhari 5873

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had a silver ring made for himself and it was worn by him on his hand. Afterwards it was worn by Abu Bakr, and then by `Umar, and then by `Uthman till it fell in the Aris well. (On that ring) was engraved: 'Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah."

The Prophet (ﷺ) got a ring made for himself and said, "I have got a ring made (for myself) and engraved a certain engraving on it so none of you should get such an engraving on his ring." I saw the glitter of the ring on his little finger.

إِنَّا اتَّخَذْنَا خَاتَمًا، وَنَقَشْنَا فِيهِ نَقْشًا، فَلاَ يَنْقُشْ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ ‏"‏‏.‏ قَالَ فَإِنِّي لأَرَى بَرِيقَهُ فِي خِنْصَرِهِ

Authentic Sahih al-Bukhari 3106

That when Abu Bakr became the Caliph, he sent him to Bahrain and wrote this letter for him, and stamped it with the Ring of the Prophet. Three lines were engraved on the Ring, (the word) 'Muhammad' was in a line, 'Apostle' was in another line, and 'Allah' in a third.

وَكَانَ نَقْشُ الْخَاتَمِ ثَلاَثَةَ أَسْطُرٍ مُحَمَّدٌ سَطْرٌ، وَرَسُولُ سَطْرٌ، وَاللَّهِ سَطْرٌ‏.‏
