حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عَوْفٍ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ

، صَلَّى عَلَى جَنَازَةٍ فَقَرَأَ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ مِنَ السُّنَّةِ أَوْ مِنْ تَمَامِ السُّنَّةِ ‏

Talhah bin Abdullah bin Awf narrated:

"Ibn Abbas performed Salat for a funeral and he recited Fatihatil-Kitab. So I asked him about it and he said: 'It is from the Sunnah' or, 'From the completeness of the Sunnah.'"

Al-Mubarakfuri — Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi

قَوْلُهُ : ( أَنَّ اِبْنَ عَبَّاسٍ صَلَّى عَلَى جِنَازَةٍ فَقَرَأَ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ فَقُلْت لَهُ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ مِنْ السُّنَّةِ أَوْ مِنْ تَمَامِ السُّنَّةِ ) شَكٌّ مِنْ الرَّاوِي. وَفِي رِوَايَةِ النَّسَائِيِّ : فَقَرَأَ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَسُورَةٍ , جَهَرَ حَتَّى أَسْمَعَنَا , فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ أَخَذْت بِيَدِهِ فَسَأَلْته فَقَالَ سُنَّةٌ وَحَقٌّ. وَلِلْحَاكِمِ مِنْ طَرِيقِ اِبْنِ عَجْلَانَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سَعِيدَ بْنَ سَعِيدٍ يَقُول : صَلَّى اِبْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَلَى جِنَازَةٍ فَجَهَرَ بِالْحَمْدِ ثُمَّ قَالَ : إِنَّمَا جَهَرْت لِتَعْلَمُوا أَنَّهَا سُنَّةٌ. قَوْلُهُ : ( هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ ) وَأَخْرَجَهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ وَالنَّسَائِيُّ وَابْنُ حِبَّانَ وَالْحَاكِمُ. قَوْلُهُ :…

"I offered the funeral prayer behind Ibn 'Abbas. He recited Fatihat Al-Kitab and a Surah, which he recited loudly, such that we could hear him. When he finished I took him by the hand and asked him. He said: '(It is) Sunnah and the truth."'

صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَلَى جَنَازَةٍ فَقَرَأَ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَسُورَةٍ وَجَهَرَ حَتَّى أَسْمَعَنَا فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ أَخَذْتُ بِيَدِهِ فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ سُنَّةٌ وَحَقٌّ ‏.‏

Narrated by Ibn ‘Abbās

Authentic Sunan an-Nasa'i 1988

"I offered the funeral prayer behind Ibn 'Abbas and I heard him reciting Fatihat Al-Kitab. When he finished I took him by the hand and asked him. 'Did you recite?' He said: 'Yes, it is the truth and the Sunnah."'

صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَلَى جَنَازَةٍ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقْرَأُ، بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ أَخَذْتُ بِيَدِهِ فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ تَقْرَأُ قَالَ نَعَمْ إِنَّهُ حَقٌّ وَسُنَّةٌ ‏.‏

Narrated by Ibn ‘Abbās

Authentic Sunan an-Nasa'i 1989

"The Sunnah, when offering the funeral prayer, is to recite Umm Al-Qur'an) the Exxence of the Qur'an) quietly in the first Takbir, Then to say three (more) Takbir and to say the Taslim after the last one."

السُّنَّةُ فِي الصَّلاَةِ عَلَى الْجَنَازَةِ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ فِي التَّكْبِيرَةِ الأُولَى بِأُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ مُخَافَتَةً ثُمَّ يُكَبِّرَ ثَلاَثًا وَالتَّسْلِيمُ عِنْدَ الآخِرَةِ ‏.‏
