Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A child is held in pledge for his ‘Aqīqah which should be slaughtered on his behalf on the seventh day after his birth…
" الْغُلاَمُ مُرْتَهَنٌ بِعَقِيقَتِهِ يُذْبَحُ عَنْهُ يَوْمَ السَّابِعِ وَيُسَمَّى وَيُحْلَقُ رَأْسُهُ "

Yūsuf ibn ‘Abdullāh ibn Salām (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) named me Yūsuf and seated me on his lap.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كُنَاسَةَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي الْهَيْثَمِ الْعَطَّارُ عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَلَامٍ قَالَ سَمَّانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُوسُفَ وَأَجْلَسَنِي فِي حَجْرِهِ
