Allah did not send a prophet except that he tended sheep

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah did not send a prophet except that he tended sheep." His Companions said: "And you?" He said: "Yes, I used to tend sheep for the people of Makkah in return for some Qirāts."

مَا بَعَثَ اللَّهُ نَبِيًّا إِلاَّ رَعَى الْغَنَمَ ‏"‏‏.‏ فَقَالَ أَصْحَابُهُ وَأَنْتَ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ نَعَمْ كُنْتُ أَرْعَاهَا عَلَى قَرَارِيطَ لأَهْلِ مَكَّةَ ‏"

Narrated by Abu Hurayrah Explained

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Every Prophet has tended sheep." He was asked: "And did you?" He replied: "Yes, I tended them for a few carats for the Makkans." [Al-Bukhari].

وعن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال‏:‏ “ما بعث الله نبياً إلا رعى الغنم” قال أصحابه‏:‏ وأنت‏؟‏ فقال‏:‏ نعم كنت أرعاها على قراريط لأهل مكة” ‏(‏‏(‏رواه البخاري‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

Narrated by Abu Hurayrah

Abu Huraira reported the Prophet as saying, “God has not sent a prophet who did not work as a shepherd.” His companions asked whether this was also true of him and he replied, “Yes, I used to be a shepherd for the people of Mecca for a payment of some qirats.” Bukhari transmitted it.

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَا بَعَثَ اللَّهُ نَبِيًّا إِلَّا رَعَى الْغَنَمَ» . فَقَالَ أَصْحَابُهُ: وَأَنْتَ؟ فَقَالَ: «نَعَمْ كُنْتُ أَرْعَى عَلَى قَرَارِيطَ…

Narrated by Abu Hurayrah

"Allah has not sent any Prophet but he was a shepherd." His Companions said to him: "Even you, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Even me I used to tend the sheep of the people of Makkah for a few Qirats." (Sahih)(One of the narrators) Suwaid said: " Meaning one Qirat for every sheep."
