Chapter: Prohibition of Swearing in the name of anything besides Allah
Not gradedRiyad as-Salihin 1710
Buraidah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "If anyone swears that in such and such case he will be free from Islam and afterwards he turns out to be a liar, he will be as he has sworn; but if he is speaking the truth, he will not revert safely to Islam."
[Abu Dawud].
Reported by Abu Dawud (No. 3258), An-Nasa’i (No. 3772), Ibn Majah (No. 2100) and Ahmad (No. 21928, 21932). Cited in Riyad as-Salihin (No. 1710).
Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever swears saying: 'I have nothing to do with Islam,' if he is lying, then he will be as he said: and if he is telling the truth, then his Islam will be defective."
