أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ سُمَىٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ

يَسْتَعِيذُ مِنْ سُوءِ الْقَضَاءِ وَشَمَاتَةِ الأَعْدَاءِ وَدَرَكِ الشَّقَاءِ وَجَهْدِ الْبَلاَءِ ‏.‏

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that :

The Prophet [SAW] used to seek refuge from being destined to an evil end, from his enemies rejoicing in his misfortune, from being overtaken by destruction and from the difficult moment of a calamity.

Al-Sindi — Hashiyat al-Sindi on Sunan al-Nasa'i

( وَجَهْد الْبَلَاء ) بِفَتْحِ الْجِيم أَيْ شِدَّة الْبَلَاء قَالَ السُّيُوطِيُّ هِيَ الْحَالَة الَّتِي يَخْتَار الْمَوْت عَلَيْهَا أَيْ لَوْ خُيِّرَ بَيْن الْمَوْت وَبَيْن تِلْكَ الْحَالَة لَأَحَبَّ أَنْ يَمُوت تَحَرُّزًا عَنْ تِلْكَ الْحَالَة وَقِيلَ هُوَ قِلَّة الْمَال وَكَثْرَة الْعِيَال قَالَ الْكَرْمَانِيُّ هَذِهِ الْكَلِمَة جَامِعَة لِأَنَّ الْمَكْرُوه إِمَّا أَنْ يُلَاحَظ مِنْ جِهَة الْمَبْدَأ وَهُوَ سُوء الْقَضَاء أَوْ مِنْ جِهَة الْمَعَاد وَهُوَ دَرْك الشَّقَاء أَوْ مِنْ جِهَة الْمَعَاش وَهُوَ إِمَّا مِنْ جِهَة غَيْره وَهُوَ شَمَاتَة الْأَعْدَاء أَوْ مِنْ جِهَة نَفْسه وَهُوَ جَهْد الْبَلَاء نَعُوذ بِاَللَّهِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ. وَأَنْتَ خَبِير بِأَنَّهُ لَا مُقَابَلَة عَلَى مَا ذَكَرَهُ ب…

Authentic Sahih Muslim 2707

Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) used to seek refuge (in Allah) from the evil of what has been decreed, from misery, from the mockery of (triumphant) enemies, and from severe calamity. `Amr (one of the narrators) said in his narration: "Sufyan said: 'I fear I may have added one of them (the phrases)."

يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ سُوءِ الْقَضَاءِ وَمِنْ دَرَكِ الشَّقَاءِ وَمِنْ شَمَاتَةِ الأَعْدَاءِ وَمِنْ جَهْدِ الْبَلاَءِ ‏.‏
