أَخْبَرَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَيَانٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَنَّ سَالِمًا، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏

"‏ بَيْنَا رَجُلٌ يَجُرُّ إِزَارَهُ مِنَ الْخُيَلاَءِ خَسَفَ بِهِ فَهُوَ يَتَجَلْجَلُ فِي الأَرْضِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ‏"

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Umar that:

The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: "While a man was dragging his Izar out of pride, the earth swallowed him up, and he will continue sinking into it until the Day of Resurrection."

He reported God’s messenger as saying, “While a man was trailing his lower garment he was swallowed up by the earth, and he will be tossed about in it till the day of resurrection." Bukhari transmitted it.

Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "While a man was walking, dressed in clothes admiring himself, his hair combed, walking haughtily when Allah caused the earth to swallow him. Now he will continue to go down in it (as a punishment) until the Day of Resurrection." [Muslim].

وعنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال‏:‏‏"‏بينما رجل يمشى في حلة تعجبه نفسه، مرجل رأسه، يختال في مشيته، إذ خسف الله به، فهو يتجلجل في الأرض إلى يوم القيامة” ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏

Authentic Sahih Muslim 2088a

Abu Huraira reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said that there was a person who used to walk with pride because of his thick hair and fine mantles. He was made to sink in the earth and he would go on sinking in the earth until the Last Hour would come.

بَيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ يَمْشِي قَدْ أَعْجَبَتْهُ جُمَّتُهُ وَبُرْدَاهُ إِذْ خُسِفَ بِهِ الأَرْضُ فَهُوَ يَتَجَلْجَلُ فِي الأَرْضِ حَتَّى تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ ‏"

Authentic Sahih Muslim 2088c

There was a person who walked with pride because of his (fine) mantles and well pleased with his personality. Allah made him sink in the earth and he would go on sinking in that until the Day of Resurrection.

بَيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ يَتَبَخْتَرُ يَمْشِي فِي بُرْدَيْهِ قَدْ أَعْجَبَتْهُ نَفْسُهُ فَخَسَفَ اللَّهُ بِهِ الأَرْضَ فَهُوَ يَتَجَلْجَلُ فِيهَا إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ‏"

Authentic Sahih al-Bukhari 5790

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "While a man was dragging his Izar on the ground (behind him), suddenly Allah made him sink into the earth and he will go on sinking into it till the Day of Resurrection." Narrated Abu Huraira: that he heard the Prophet (narrating as above No. 680).

بَيْنَا رَجُلٌ يَجُرُّ إِزَارَهُ، خُسِفَ بِهِ، فَهْوَ يَتَجَلَّلُ فِي الأَرْضِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ‏"

Narrated by Abu Hurayrah

Authentic Jami' at-Tirmidhi 2491

"A man among those before you went out arrogantly in a Hullah of his. So Allah ordered the earth to take him. He remains sinking[into it]" - or he said - "He will remain sinking into it until the Day of Judgement."

"‏ خَرَجَ رَجُلٌ مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ فِي حُلَّةٍ لَهُ يَخْتَالُ فِيهَا فَأَمَرَ اللَّهُ الأَرْضَ فَأَخَذَتْهُ فَهُوَ يَتَجَلْجَلُ فِيهَا أَوْ قَالَ يَتَلَجْلَجُ فِيهَا إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ‏"
