أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي عَتَّابٍ، سَهْلِ بْنِ حَمَّادٍ ح وَأَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ ‏{‏ حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، قَالَ ‏}‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَكِينٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِيَاسُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْمُعَيْقِيبِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، مُعَيْقِيبٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ كَانَ

خَاتَمُ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَدِيدًا مَلْوِيًّا عَلَيْهِ فِضَّةٌ -

Iyas bin Al-Harith bin Al-Mu'aiqib narrated that his grandfather Mu'aiqib said:

"The ring of the Prophet [SAW] was made of iron with silver twisted around it." He said: "And sometimes it was on my hand." And Mu'aiqib was the keeper of the ring of the Messenger of Allah [SAW].

Al-Sindi — Hashiyat al-Sindi on Sunan al-Nasa'i

قَوْله ( حَدِيدًا مَلْوِيًّا عَلَيْهِ فِضَّة ) قِيلَ هَذَا الْحَدِيث أَجْوَد إِسْنَادًا مِمَّا قَبْله لِأَنَّ فِي إِسْنَاد الْأَوَّل عَبْد اللَّه بْن مُسْلِم الْمَرْوَزِيُّ وَقِيلَ إِنَّهُ لَا يُحْتَجّ بِحَدِيثِهِ وَقِيلَ ثِقَة يُخْطِئ سِيَّمَا وَهَذَا الْحَدِيث يُعَضِّدهُ حَدِيث اِلْتَمِسْ وَلَوْ خَاتَمًا مِنْ حَدِيد وَلَوْ كَانَ مَكْرُوهًا لَمْ يَأْذَن فِيهِ قُلْت وَالرِّوَايَة الْآتِيَة صَرِيحَة فِي الْجَوَاز وَقِيلَ إِنْ كَانَ الْمَنْع مَحْفُوظًا يُحْمَل الْمَنْع عَلَى مَا كَانَ حَدِيدًا صِرْفًا وَهَاهُنَا بِالْفِضَّةِ الَّتِي لُوِيَتْ عَلَيْهِ تَرْتَفِع الْكَرَاهَة وَاَللَّه تَعَالَى أَعْلَم ( عَلَى خَاتَم ) أَيْ أَمِينًا عَلَيْهِ.…

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wanted to write to some persian rulers. He was told that they would not read a letter without a seal in the form of a silver ring on which he engraved "Muhammad the Messenger of Allah."

إِنَّهُمْ لاَ يَقْرَءُونَ كِتَابًا إِلاَّ بِخَاتَمٍ فَاتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَنَقَشَ فِيهِ ‏"‏ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏"

Ziyad b. Sa'd, Shu'aib and Ibn Musafir transmitted it from al-Zuhri. 'Ali said in their versions: "of silver".

رَأَى فِي يَدِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم خَاتَمًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ يَوْمًا وَاحِدًا فَصَنَعَ النَّاسُ فَلَبِسُوا وَطَرَحَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَطَرَحَ النَّاسُ ‏.‏

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had a silver ring made for himself and it was worn by him on his hand. Afterwards it was worn by Abu Bakr, and then by `Umar, and then by `Uthman till it fell in the Aris well. (On that ring) was engraved: 'Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah."

The Prophet (ﷺ) got a ring made for himself and said, "I have got a ring made (for myself) and engraved a certain engraving on it so none of you should get such an engraving on his ring." I saw the glitter of the ring on his little finger.

إِنَّا اتَّخَذْنَا خَاتَمًا، وَنَقَشْنَا فِيهِ نَقْشًا، فَلاَ يَنْقُشْ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ ‏"‏‏.‏ قَالَ فَإِنِّي لأَرَى بَرِيقَهُ فِي خِنْصَرِهِ

Authentic Sahih al-Bukhari 3106

That when Abu Bakr became the Caliph, he sent him to Bahrain and wrote this letter for him, and stamped it with the Ring of the Prophet. Three lines were engraved on the Ring, (the word) 'Muhammad' was in a line, 'Apostle' was in another line, and 'Allah' in a third.

وَكَانَ نَقْشُ الْخَاتَمِ ثَلاَثَةَ أَسْطُرٍ مُحَمَّدٌ سَطْرٌ، وَرَسُولُ سَطْرٌ، وَاللَّهِ سَطْرٌ‏.‏
